How’s the sand / water there?

Nice big, flat beaches. Sand isn't as nice as FL gulf coast... more comparable to east coast beaches (Jacksonville beaches, St Simons Island)

What’s the vibe - trashy or nice?

I'd say its a tasteful level of trashy, we are in our 30s and it hasn't turned me off yet. My in laws have a house near the pier so we can get to any of the restaurants or bars on a golf cart.

There are two developments you might want to look into renting in... Palmilla and Cinnamon Shore. Definitely modeled after 30A, great for kids, not trashy at all...

Is it kid friendly or more of a party spot?

Fourth of July weekend it will be a zoo on the beach in Port A proper. Not necessarily spring break type debauchery but lots of trashy people if that bothers you. In Port A, you can drive your car or RV right up to the beach so it makes accessibility easy for riff raff. With that being said, we will be out there.

On non-holiday weekends you should be able to find a stretch of beach that is more private.

Are there good prices for beach front (or a short walk from the beach) houses?

Can't help you there but beach access is somewhat trickier than my experience in Florida... people do not have walkways over the dune. So if your house is "on the beach" you still may have to walk a bit to the nearest access.

What is there to do there with the kids other than the beach?

Palmilla/Cinnamon Shore might have programming for kids, but we don't have kids yet so I'm not sure. There are little concerts where kids run around and there is fishing if they like that.

Is Cinnamon Shore the spot or is that overpriced and we should look at a house to rent?

The answer is probably yes and yes... Feels more kid friendly and clean. If you are looking for the 30A vibe then this is the way to go. But if you don't want to pay for that, I wouldn't let renting somewhere in town run you away from Port A completely.

I'd play Tenison Highlands if we are talking Dallas munis, but if he's in Frisco, I'm not sure it's worth driving to South Dallas with all the courses that are up north.

Yeah if you have precheck at Love Field that is about as easy as it gets.

I'm 31 and I've had it my whole life... Growing up I would have to break out the nebulizer every once in a while to handle attacks, but I was always able to play sports.

In high school it started getting better and I played soccer and ran track & XC. Would always carry a rescue inhaler in my bag, but didn't always have to use it.

I'll have to call BS on your 'refused to let passengers sit in center seats'...that did NOT happen !

Happened to me before, why do you think that's so absurd? I wanted to sit close to the front because I was running very late for something and a girl had a bag on the middle seat. I asked her nicely to move it and her gen z brain went haywire and the flight attendant even said "sir there are aisle and window seats further back" and wouldn't make the girl move it.

I still fly SWA a lot because of Love Field but I really don't like the experience anymore and especially not the price you pay for it.

On our Dallas-San Antonio round trip SW flight this weekend they didn't go full drink service & no food snacks. They brought out water in a cup for everyone who wanted it. Looks like they are now doing this on flights that are less than an hour.

Same experience the last 3-4 times I've flown from Love to Hobby or San Antonio

Haven't been to any on the top 10, but I saw Reese Bros in San Antonio made the list (not sure what their ranking is)... That is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Are the top 10 places noticeably better than a place like Reese Bros to the untrained palate?
If on iPhone, you can go to Settings, Apps, Phone, and turn on "Silence Unknown Callers"

If it's a legitimate call they will leave a voicemail or text

The Dane County farmers market was insane when we went to the Bama/Wisconsin game. 1000x better than what we have in Dallas.

Getting to Atlanta via land without using MARTA sucks pretty hard. But, the airport itself is laid out beautifully

I think it's great for connections, but I'm not a fan of funneling everyone through the same security then dispersing them to different terminals. Same as Denver IIRC. DFW you can be at your gate within minutes of being dropped off... not possible at ATL

I really like mid sized airports like Portland, Dallas Love, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, Houston Hobby.

DFW is nice for me because I live in Dallas, but can definitely understand the hate for connections there.

I don't think this one has been mentioned but being hungover at the Santa Fe NM airport was a pretty miserable experience. No restaurants, just a vending machine and it was broken.

Friend of mine is +2 and was an SEC walk on golfer.. He mentioned getting to play Augusta in college and shot a 76. I didn't ask what tees he played, but even assuming its member tees, I think you have a good point.
