I’m spinning in circles trying to find a place to go in late May/early June. 2 adults, a 17 year old, 12 year old, and an infant. Any recommendations that meet these criteria?
- Somewhere in the northern half of the country.
- Scenic, preferably mountains.
- Plenty to do on site for the older kids.
Safe enough for them to roam on their
own at times while the baby stays inside
and eats/sleeps.
- Good food and entertainment on site.
- Multiple bedrooms.
- Outdoor activities nearby (hiking, rafting,
etc)

Thanks for listening

does it have to be a resort?
consider colorado, maybe Breckenridge. rent an airbnb. rafting, hiking, fishing, ziplining. safe, walkable town with plenty of shops and restaurants, and great weather in June

I don’t have any recs but many of us from the south don’t realize that the real northern summer is really July and august, late May and June are really like an ‘early summer’. It can still get down into the 40s many places in June and snow is not unheard of in May.

I’ve been to places in mid June in illionois and Michigan and the water is really almost too cold to swim, for kids anyway.

We chose Telluride for the same type of getaway a couple of years ago and had a blast. Stayed in Mountain Village above Telluride - shops, restaurants, all in a quaint setting that the kids can roam around easily. Gondola ride is free (both ways) down into the town of Telluride with more shops, restaurants, etc. we did plenty of hiking, white water rafting one day, jeep rental one day high up on the old mining roads (white-knuckled since I’m afraid of heights), rented kayaks and cruised around on a lake nearby - bought a cheap fishing pole and the kids fished as well.

Family enjoyed the different scenery as we are usually beach people.

I went to Vail in early July for a wedding about 10 years ago and it was amazing. Weather was beautiful and there's plenty to do outdoors.

Did a full day of mountain biking on the mountain. Take the gondola to the top and bomb down the mountain. I think the 12 and 17 year old would love that.

Mt. Washington resort in New Hampshire. We used to go there when I was growing up and it was a blast.

Smuggler's Notch Resort in Vermont operates during the summer with lots of family-friendly events offered. It's just on the other side of Stowe, so you are right in the mountains.

Like others said late May/early June can still be cool, especially if your plan includes using natural bodies of water for activities. It can also be in the upper 70s or higher so you just never know.

May/June is not summertime in the Northeast. Schools dont get out until late June. It can be downright cold that time of year. Summer starts 4th of July week.

When LSU played Wisconsin in Green Bay we stayed at Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan. I’ve wanted to take my grandkids back ever since but haven’t done it yet. It was very nice, right on Lake Michigan and it has a large indoor water park. There are several good restaurants near the resort and it’s very close to Koehler if those golf courses interest you at all. We stayed in a 4 bedroom villa that was quite large at a really good rate

These are classic resorts in the Virginia/West Virginia area. Daily events for children and adults. Nice dining options with numerous restaurants on site.
