Me and the Mrs are traveling to San Antonio next month. Looking for advice. Things that are must do, things to stay away from, must try eats, things we should get out and see. We will be there 4 days i believe.

I think San Antonio is one of the most unique cities in the good U.S. of A.
The San Antonio River Walk is tops of my list ... best time at nighttime.
The Alamo ... reservations are required. Out of respect, remove your hat before entering the church.
Mission San Jose - about 5 miles south of The Alamo - Sunday Mass featuring Mariachi Band. There are additional missions in the area.
Natural Bridge Caverns - about 30 miles north of San Antonio
Lastly, SeaWorld San Antonio
Be sure to select an authentic Mexican Restaurant(s) as there a plenty in the area. Refer to TripAdvisor and/or Yelp for better descriptions.
Enjoy!

Plus there's a market on the street not far with a bunch of cool stuff
We stayed at The Menger Hotel once, it's really cool and rumor is more cattle have been bought/sold in there than anywhere in the US. The bar was built in 1887 and Theodore Roosevelt, Sidney Lanier, Babe Ruth, Mae West, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, Clinton, Bush Nixon, Sam Houston have all visited.
Look it up and go have a drink in the bar, it's a cool place.

Not sure where y'all are staying but the Crockett Hotel was pleasant. Back exit that you cross a small alley into the Riverwalk Mall. Though the history of the other hotel mentioned sounds cool.
If you like old building history the boat ride is pretty interesting. The Riverwalk can be a bit crowded in spots so it's essentially just a bar hop for good people watching.

Blanco Cafe on Blanco for legit great cheese enchiladas. Great lunch spot.
Head to the King Williams district one night for dinner. Drive around and see the beautiful homes before. We ate at UpScale and it was very good. Then walked next door to Churro Star and had the best freaking churros ever for dessert.
The Pearl district is a good spot to kill a few hours. Lots of bars and restaurants and shops. Hotel Emma is fantastic.

Puffy tacos are worth trying.
You have to do Riverwalk even though it's a tourist trap.
The Mercado is an interesting place to get Mexican junk.
The sky needle gives great views.
There is a cool cave system nearby.
And the world's best Waterpark is 45 minute drive north.

If you're already on the Riverwalk, Iron Cactus was a great meal. Tortilla Soup

See the light show at the San Fernando Cathedral at night.
River walk night boat ride.
Tower of the Americas. Take time to read the five flags over Texas murals at the top

The Alamo
See the entire National Monument of the Mission Trail. It is multiple Missions that are all in different levels of what remains or has been restored. Very interesting from ruins to full, walled Mission.
Natural Bridge Caverns.
There was an old diner with great onion rings featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives that was fun but I can’t recall the name.

Definitely the Alamo. The first time I saw it, so much about it surprised me. I didn't even realize exactly what a mission was. It's also striking when you see how those who died were from all over and that it's part of Mexico's history as well.
San Jacinto Mission is definitely worth the trip off the beaten path. It's been restored. They have tours and also church there. It's the largest of the missions.
Eat breakfast tacos somewhere. They have the best breakfast tacos in Texas. Best tortillas are also in SA.
Take the River Walk boat ride tour. It's cheesy, but it's fun and the River Walk is so unique.
The Pearl Brewery area is fun as is the King William district. Guenther House is also great for breakfast. I like La Fonda on Main, La Fogata, Mi Tierra, La Margarita (La Margarita is pretty much the same as Mi Tierra without the bakery and less crowds), and Iron Cactus. La Fonda and La Fogata are old and have pretty outside seating. Their food isn't as great as Iron Cactus, but it's still good.
The Japanese Tea Garden in Brackenridge Park is cool and unexpected. It's pretty near downtown. San Fernando Cathedral lights are great.

Totally agree. In the morning, WALK down the King William neighborhood and eat breakfast at the Guenter house.
Then after breakfast, WALK down the riverwalk back to town. Excellent sights at your pace.

Mi Tierra, Pearl, Iron Cactus...can't miss with those
Puffy Tacos...meh
Chris Madrid burgers...been wanting to try this, locals rave
La Fonda & La Fogata....accurately described as good old school spots, food is pretty good but scenery is great provided it's not too hot to sit outside.
Haven't been to the Alamo in a really long time but it's small and touristy like most similar historical 'must do's' in many cities.
Floating the river is great but check water levels first. If it works out New Braunfels has some good food too and it will be on the way there/back from the river. BBQ, mexican, german (lots of german settlers north of San Antonio way back when).

Ray’s in the barrio for puffy chicken tacos.
La Villita village.
The new Alamo exhibit with some of Phil Collins’ collection. He also narrates the whole battle in a room with a huge diorama.
The missions on the “mission trail” are more impressive architecturally and less crowded than the Alamo. Highly recommend all of them.
