Most all work travel has been canceled for the fed employees who are not furloughed, so that’s a lot of regular flyers who are absent.

Looked to be fairly significant delays yesterday at Logan and ATL. All three of my flights were delayed. Not any TSA issues that I saw.

I travel 1-2 times a week for work. I don't think people are travelling as much this year as they were the last couple of years based on what I see in airports and hotels. So, that is a good thing for TSA/shutdown issues at airports.

Agree with this. Maybe it will be a problem if this lasts into the holidays.

Have flown every week since shutdown and haven't noticed a difference with TSA. Of course, I have Clear and Pre, but not witnessing long lines.

I've made sure to book the morning flights though, as most of the ATC issues start to happen in the afternoon.

Welp if you fly out of Bush in Houston, starting today, they closed C and D security checkpoints. Have to go through A or E due to staffing...

What a clusterfrick.

New Orleans was ok on Wednesday morning. I got there at 5 for 7:45 flight. I was out of security by 6:15.

Was it 1.25 hours in security line, or total time including parking, walking to terminal and checking bag?

10/22/25 Dallas Love - almost no line for a 6 AM flight.;

10/28/25 New Orleans about 10 to 15 minutes in line.

I was pleasantly surprised how nice all the TSA people were considering they weren't getting paid as usual.

I posted this in response to the OT thread on the OT about this.

How long does it take to get approved for pre check?
I have to fly out from Houston on Wednesday on United.

Wonder if it would be better to switch to Southwest and leave out of Hobby.
Hell I may just drive from Nola to there and back or rent a car since my company is paying.

Well, govt is shut down, so would imagine they aren't processing TSA Pre applications at this point.

But normally, its like a month to two process.

*If you want to spend the money, best to do would be Clear. You'd at least get to take that line and skip the clusterfrick for the most part

*depends on airport

ETA: I fly out Monday morning and can let you know how bad it is.

Just saw Hobby announced lane closures and says expect 45m waits.

Is Clear Plus better than the TSA recheck?

Short answer is yes. Most folks who have clear also have pre-check, so if the airport isn't slammed its mostly a wash. Flying in and out of MSY the clear line often doesn't save me anytime over just using pre-check.

HOWEVER, with the shutdown clear is definitely worth it, and even more so if you don't have pre-check. Without pre-check, you will still need to take off your shoes and stuff, but you will get to the front of the general security line.

One more note, I fly 20-25 or more round trips a year so the cost is more than worth it for me and wife. You can bring kids with you in the clear line, but each adult needs to have their own clear account. If you only fly 4-5 times the cost might not make sense, especially for family travel with multiple adults.

No you don't, they ended shoes off in August...

The only advantage of Pre at this point is normally shorter lines and not having to take Laptops out.

Just talked to co-workers attempting to go out of IAH tonight.... They've been in the TSA line for 2hrs at Terminal E and aren't even inside the building yet.

Seeing pictures, its absolute insanity.

Traveled last weekend and had absolutely no issues through check in security or flight delays. Went msy to Boston Logan and back.

I just enrolled with Clear Plus. I’m flying out of Nola tomorrow and not worried about that.
I’m really concerned about IAH back to Nola on Wednesday.
Thanks for y’all’s help.

What time is flight? Hopefully its early bc it sounds like mid day is when it starts to become a big issue.
