Really, the only "enjoyable" airports I've been to are Atlanta and Phoenix. Las Vegas isn't horrible.

Atlanta was my OG airport, so all others naturally get compared to it.

Know how I know you never went through Newark before they upgrade the C terminal? That place was a shithole...only to be outdone by LGA, which now has a really nice new terminal.

Newark Airport today is heaven on Earth compared to how it was when I was a kid---it was like the worst bus terminal you've ever been in, but 100 times worse. That said, it does still suck. In almost every way, including on-time departures and arrivals!

Glad I never saw it in the old days.

LaGuardia is too.

New LGA is outstanding. As someone else mentioned, MCI is the worst airport in a decently sized US city.

Orlando isn’t a fun airport either. Weird considering Disney is located there.

MCO is a pretty unique airport with lots of amenities. Far from the dull or boring list.

But it still lacks a direct subway stop. One of NYC's biggest problems is that its airports are all more difficult to access than they should be.

It sucks, but go hang out in Kansas City's for a while and get back to me.

It is by far the worst airport I've ever been to, the security setup they have is beyond dumb.

It was built in a time when there was no security so that was not a consideration in the design. The year it was completed was when metal detectors started being used due to hijacking (1972). The idea was to be able to drop people off close their check in and gate. For Kansas City residents it's still decent for that.

You can see the new replacement terminal taking shape. In 2023 they will shut down the 3 terminals and replace them with a single modern terminal. It's been needed for a while.

For me the worst airport I've been to in the US was Fort Lauderdale. At least as far as having to leave security from one terminal and walk to another and go through a horribly congested security screening. It was like a third world bus station. I'd just been through a few South American airports and they looked awfully good in comparison.

You have to go back through security if going to a different terminal, which I’ve never seen before.

So is JFK.

I think the reason why they Newark/ JFK are like that is because they were built at the time when airlines built the terminal building and hence they built detached buildings with no easy way to go from one to the other.

I thought getting to Manhattan from Newark was fairly easy, but it's been a few years. A tram ride to a train station, the maybe $3(?) for a subway ticket that takes you to Penn Station. Whole process from getting off the plane took maybe an hour. Not bad for a metropolitan area that size.

Only flown into LGA once and that was in the mid-90's. Barely remember any of it. Never flown into JFK.

I've never had an issue at MCO. What don't you like about it?

If I’m flying in or out of New York, I always prefer Newark if possible for the reason you just stated. I believe the ticket is $13, not $3, but it’s still much cheaper and faster than having to catch a car from either of the other spots.

Yeah, FLL is terrible. If you have to change terminals in Honolulu, it's also bad. AKL (Auckland, New Zealand) has a crazy long walk to change from the international to the domestic terminals, and it goes across parking lots, marked with arrows. I'm trying to think if there are others that I've been in that were as long and as easy to get lost.

There are a few things I like about EWR:

Cafe Abruzzo, the Italian place near the ramp in I believe Terminal C.

Classified, the restaurant hidden inside the United Club.

Adeja, the Portuguese restaurant in Newark (short cab from the airport) with great looking bartenders.

A Chinese company bought the Waldorf years ago. It’s been condo only for a long time. The last time I stayed there was prolly 2015.

I’ve only flown in and out of Newark rather than through it. I always liked it better than JFK or LaGuardia. Tampa makes you go through security when you switch terminals. Such a pain in the arse.

Other than the really small airports, I hate most every airport in FL. TPA, MCO, MIA, FLL.
