Thinking of going to a game there, where are the good hotels? Any in walking distance to stadium?

Stay downtown. Take the train to the stadium.

There's one directly across the street. Can't remember the brand name but I've stayed there three times with no complaints and the price wasn't too bad.

I've stayed at the Hotel Indigo a couple of times when passing through Houston. Didn't go to a game at Reliant but it was nice enough. If you're one of those nuts who can't travel without your dog think they give you dog treats. Didn't charge for parking either.

Not the best part of town around the stadium. Stay downtown/midtown within walking distance to the light rail that takes you to the stadium.

Downtown is best location for getting to the game as noted. You can also take the train into the museum district if you are into that sort of thing. Some good restaurants and bars in downtown and midtown that are easy to get to with uber. Otherwise i would stay Uptown near the galleria.

ewww, Darth thread.

I would stay downtown, pregame or postgame in Midtown, and ride the train to Reliant. Unless you want a sketchy late night walk to your hotel near the stadium.

Probably best to just stay downtown. Either that or in the Galleria area.

Crowne Plaza. We stayed there for the Manchester United vs Manchester City game. Literally took 10 minutes to walk from the stadium. Not the best hotel but definitely not the worst.

there is a Holiday Inn right next door to Reliant. I've stayed there for Texans games. You can walk right out of the hotel and to the stadium. Its not bad for one night to go to a game and your car is parked. so there's that.

But if you want to stay someplace nicer, Indigo, Za, Marriott Marquis, etc are all better options. You'll just have to drive/uber/train to Reliant.

You can also stay in the Medical Center near Rice Village/Rice University and it’s a short 5 minute Uber.

I agree 100%. I cannot explain this enough to out of towners. Reliant/Astrodome has always been in the shite side of town. South 610 is a toilet. The only thing within walking distance is the medical center. Probably find some authentic menudo too. And an authentic armed robbery.

There is absolutely NOWHERE you’d would want to go and grab a beer after a game. Nowhere. After the game and all the tailgaters clear out, that area is the south side again.

10-20 years ago when midtown/west U/ and downtown were only ramping up it was even worse.

Crowne Plaza right across the road. They have a hotel bar that isn't bad if you don't want to go into the city.

Very convenient for after the game

Getting there isn't too bad, it's the heading back downtown after the game that is not so great. Unless they have changed things in the last few years, you are in for a pretty long wait (and lots of people cutting in line in the meantime) for the train.

Have done this too, it is pretty dang close. You can walk across the bridge and not have to cross the actual street, safety first at Reliant. Nevertheless, there really is nothing else around there though, so if you're looking for nightlife...that ain't it

I usually just stay in the owner's apartment in the stadium.

Just to provide you a non-downtown alternative.

Hotel ZaZa is in the Museum district and Montrose area, which (IMO) has some of the best eating and drinking in the city. It also has train access to the stadium, but you might be able to get one of the ZaZa shuttles to bring you...
