Frontier Airlines worth the savings?

Heading to Orlando next month and decided last minute to fly. It'll just be me on the flight and I may have one bag at most. So I won't have to worry about entertaining kids with wi-fi, snacks, etc. Round trip is $125 plus whatever it may cost for my bag. Any reason to definitely avoid?

How big is your bag?
Small enough for just 1 set of clothes. Rest of family would be flying in the next day on Delta. So I can pack most of my stuff with them. But I'm a light packer anyway. Just shorts and t-shirts.

Then carry it on and call it your PI. Don't pay for a bag. You'll be fine. The drinks are decent price and although the seats don't recline you aren't going far.

It is perfectly fine for a short haul flight like that. I recently flew frontier one way and united economy back on a 3 hour flight, and found that frontier had more room and a more efficient boarding process. It was also less full.

Of the budget airlines, I like it better than most. Have had decent experiences. (Spirit can choke on 1,000,000 bags of dicks)
+1... if your bag is small, you're in good shape to call it a personal item. Just check the size dimensions and make sure it's soft-sided/"smooshable" if necessary.

If the flight is direct and early, I’d say give it a go

Wife, kids, and I have flown on Frontier, twice, round trip, from MSY - MCO. Once in 2017 and once in 2018.
It's a short flight and it's very basic. We would just bring on board a drink and a bag of chips for each of us (bought while waiting to board). No wi-fi but just download a movie to a tablet and you are fine - that's what we did.
The only "concern" I had with them was on the first trip in 2017, we did check a couple of bags when departing MSY, and when we went to the counter to drop them off, the "typical NOLA" agent never asked any of us for an ID, just our last name and where we were headed. I thought that was odd. When we flew the same route in 2018, they asked for ID.
Also, be prepared for an approx 10 minute (no joke) mid flight announcement, from a flight attendant, pushing the perks of applying for their credit card, including the attendants going from seat to seat personally asking every adult if they wanted a credit card app. It doesn't bother me, I just laughed.
Would absolutely fly that route again.
PS - As I'm typing my reply, the two ad boxes - one at top and one at side - both are for Frontier. Chicken's got this ad game on lock.

The problem with budget airlines is that they typically have one flight per day per route. If there are weather or mechanical issues, you're probably not making it your destination or home that day.

Just check the schedule. I won’t fly frontier out of Lafayette because there are very few flights. If your flight gets canceled then they don’t have another to put you on

That has been my hesitation.

They've been really reliable out of Jackson, rarely even a few minutes late, and maybe one cancellation since Oct of last year.

I did Frontier one way from MSY-DEN recently, something like what you are doing and they were fine.
It was $125 for a two hour flight and $35 for my carry-on.
Made myself a scotch and scotch. (Carried on left-over airplane bottles of Dewar’s).

My friend had to drive home from Orlando last month because of canceled flight. They offered $400 per ticket toward another airline but that would have covered half of same day price.

I’m a huge Frontier supporter. If you are looking for a cheap flight to get you where you need to go, they are perfect, but if luxury is what you want then I wouldn’t use them. The MSY-MCO route has been great for me, so wouldn’t hesitate to book it if I were you.

I flew Frontier out of Lafayette to Denver and didn't run into any issues.

I know this may seem petty, but when I start off my vacation .. I'd like to relax on the plane and have a rum/coke.
(WHEN West BOUND OR Vegas) .. Frontier only serves Pepsi, so I stop flying it + their schedule seems to always get mixed up.

Frontier and Spirit are fine for what they are. People who bitch about them don't read the descriptions beforehand and then they're shocked when they have to pay extra.
I've never had a delayed flight with either yet and while the aisle space is smaller it isn't a huge enough difference to bother me.
