Wife and I are going to Key West for Mile 0 Fest Next Tuesday through Sunday. Our first time going there and we're looking for things we shouldn't miss while there. Obviously our trip will be focused on different concerts, but we're looking for other things to squeeze in as well. I definitely want to see Hemingway House and we're going snorkeling on morning. Otherwise we have nothing else planned outside of the shows. We're staying at Southernmost resort and most of the venues are on or near Duvall st.

Get the hop on hop off pass one day its $22 a day it will take you to all the attractions. You can do them in all in one day.
Go to the harbor at sun set bands and all the bars restaurants have deals on food and drinks good vibe.

Book a sunset cruise through Fury. It's a great view and one of our favorite things we did

I’ve always wanted to see a Key deer. They’re tiny when full grown.

Saw one on our drive down. It was on the side of the road. It was indeed small. The roving bands of iguanas were more shocking to me. Damn things are everywhere.

Hemingway house is a must, ofcourse.

Go to the beach at the state park(cant remember the name) it will be alot less crowded and there are some rock piles you can swim out too and snorkel around.

Would love to do the dry tortugas trip but we didnt have time.

Are you driving in or flying in? Flying to Miami/renting a car? We drove down this past September, the drive once you get out of Miami to Key West was quite enjoyable.

If you're driving down and passing through I suggest stopping at Robby's in Islamorada and handfeeding the tarpon, it was easily one of my favorite things we did, I think it was around $8 for my wife and I, we almost kept driving but really glad we didn't.

If you're looking for the Key Deer they're on Big Pine Key, turn down Key Deer Blvd and look for them, mind your speed, they're endangered/protected so they're mindful of people speeding and running them over. Go all the way down and in those neighborhoods at the end as well. We found a few that would let us stand right next to them, we couldn't touch them but for the most part they didn't care.

I thought Louies Backyard was kinda meh

Santiagos Bodega was the best meal we had

The place across the street from Captain Tonys has some killer tacos, I think it's called Amigos.

If you have the ability to do so rent/bring bikes, driving/parking everywhere would be a nightmare.

Duval = clean Bourbon Street

The Hemmingway house tour was cooler than I expected, our tour guide was a woman with a bunch of tattoos and she was hilarious. After the tour we went explore on our own, checked out some of the 6 toe cats, etc.

Mel Fisher Maritime Museum was pretty cool, it's a museum dedicated to a huge treasure find in the Keys.

Sunset at Mallory Square was fun, we'd grab a couple drinks at Captin Tonys walk down, catch some of the street shows. It would get a bit packed with all the people wanting pics for the 'Gram but it was a cool place to hang out.

We wanted to do the Dry Tortugas but opted for a chartered fishing trip instead.

We did a snorkel/kayak trip with Danger Charters and enjoyed it as well.

Go see the aggravating loudmouth guy that swallows a sword at Mallory Square before the sunset. Just because he puts a rope down doesn't mean he owns the real estate inside of that rope!

Wild chickens in front of capt tony's

Lots of bars for day drinking down Duval. The water at the beach at the southernmost point resort looked almost like chocolate milk.

If you do go a beach, go the beach at Fort Zachary Taylor.

Already been mentioned.....

Skip Mallory Square for the sunset and book a sunset cruise with Fury....there's a couple of different options, don't choose the cheap one...it's basically a booze cruise. The next one up will be less crowded and they have booze plus 4 rounds of finger foods that they offer.

Lattitudes one night for the dinner, service and sunset. However, if you haven't booked a reservation yet, it's unlikely that you'll get in. I think their booking is done through opentable app

Santiago Bodego is difficult to find but worth the hunt. Tapas with a cool vibe

Definitiely rent bikes to see the town

Day drinking.....alot of day drinking.

This guy Key Wests.

OP, there are a ton of threads on Key West on this board if you need more suggestions than from just this thread. You really can't go wrong if you just want to drink, eat, and have a good time. Would highly recommend the Green Parrot for drinks/live music. One of my favorite ways to spend a night is to go to the White Tarpon for a key lime martini before dinner, then follow the harbor over to Half Shell Raw Bar for dinner, then keep following it over to Schooner Wharf for after dinner drinks. You can take drinks with you and just wander around and look at the boats. If you feel like getting off the island, go to Hogfish Grill on Stock Island and get the blackened Hogfish sandwich. Would go ahead and skip Lattitudes. They don't even cook the food on Sunset Key. It's just a tourist trap.

Serious question......

I just don't get this sentiment and wonder if it is actually true or just something that might have been true at one time and the story continues to carry on.

I've been to Lattitudes on Sunset Key at least 5 times in the last 5 years. It has been nothing short of excellent each and every time. Fine dining, service is great and the food has always been fresh and piping hot without an extended wait.

Impossible that it is brought over.
