Favorite Swimmable Mountain Lake?

Looking for suggestions for a Lake or River location that is not unbearably cold water but still offers dramatic scenery, good hiking and a decent town nearby. This would be for July.
We have done places like Tahoe, Placid and Glacier in the past, but the request for this year is a bit warmer water. Maybe a shallower lake or different region like southern Colorado? I suggested Lake Powell but was turned down in favor of more greenery.

Smith Mountain Lake in VA or something else in Appalachia

I jumped off my wave runner on Lake Mead and swam around for a bit. It was in July and 115 degrees. The water felt amazing. Not a mountain lake but it kinda has the feel of it from the surroundings.

The Black Hills of South Dakota has good hiking, good lakes, and good scenery. My kids enjoyed Sylvan Lake there.

I went there to fish in the mid 60's after it was dammed.

Maybe the Mountain/Lakes region of Alabama (NE AL in the Scottsboro and Guntersville area)?

Love the northern NY lakes....but yeah they stay pretty chilly in the summer. I've spent time at Blue Mountain Lake, Raquette. and Saranac in the summers and a couple trips in February and ice fished (which really means just sitting around and drinking a lot of brown beverage).

I would say Goose lake New Mexico. It's at 11,700'. In june the water temp was 52 degrees in June. My wife dared me. So i took the plunge. Although very refreshing, I didnt swim long.

We like Lake Blue Ridge.
LINK
We try to stay in the area once per year. Blue Ridge has some nice shops and restaurants. 45-minute drive to Amicalola State Park.

if the area recovers, Lake Lure in NC was a great spot for tubing, swimming, etc. Redfish Lake in Idaho is a great area.

Flathead Lake Montana. Rent a house with a west facing pier for amazing sunsets. Water can be a little cool, but beautiful place.

Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park. Our cabin (in the park) was right on the lake. Jumped in and went swimming twice, wasn't bad at all. July, three years ago. Lots of boating opportunities on the lake, too: motorboats, canoes, etc.
