Trying to decide on family vacation for this summer. Two adults and a 12yo outdoorsy/sports kid. Open to any suggestions. Anyone got any input?

Yes, I do. Post this on the Travel Board where it's about travel and family vacations.

Kauai would make an incredible trip. It is the best of the Hawaiian islands for people who love the outdoors. It is pretty much our favorite place on earth.

I've heard Walley World is amazing.

I suggest making a roadtrip out of it, maybe visit various relatives along the way.

Cancun all inclusive.

Direct from NO.

Better and cheaper than Destin.

If you looking for something simple, go stay at the Caribe in Orange Beach. Its across the street from the beach but they have busses back and fourth all day long, in the back they have cement piers you can fish off of. It has nice swimming pool area, one time we were there they had a big projector screen and they showed a movie at night.. Its cool if you are hanging out with people, I think the movie was some shite that was appropriate for kids, but its an option.

Just don't go to LuLu's or whatever that place is called. Biggest tourist trap ever... In orange beach.

How many nights & days?
A. Do you want to flying to one place, stay there, & fly home?
B. Fly somewhere, road trip to somewhere, and fly home from there?
C. Just a road trip and if so from where are you starting the trip?
Any notable places you have already been to and don’t want to go back to on this trip?

A. San Diego, Boston, Vancouver, BC

B.
- Rapid City, SD to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons - 3 or 4 days at each
- Utah 5 NP; fly to Las Vegas & road trip to SLC or even Denver if you have 2 weeks
- Boston to Bar Harbor
- NW Michigan to Mackinac Isl, UP to northern WI, then to Duluth, MN to drive along Lake Superior to Canada. There are 5 state parks on the lake drive and several remote National Parks/Lakeshores in that area.

C: Just depends on where you start and how much time you got.

Rome or London…

Rome gives them a taste of real history and something they are familiar with. They’ve undoubtedly seen some of the monuments in their classes and who doesn’t like pizza? The Vatican is right there too. I’m dumbing it down a lot here; but, you get the gist. A 12yo’s eyes are only so open to experiences.

London flights are super cheap right now. Norse airlines is doing direct RT flights to London out of Tampa for $200 per person right now. So is British Airways and Virgin Atlantic. A few days there and a quick train ride and you are in Paris. Take in a EPL Soccer or PSG game if you time it right.

I've done a few national parks with the family.

Yosemite was our favorite and most breath taking.

We rented an Airbnb in Yosemite West.
