Money is also tighter for people these days. And the instagram era has younger people prioritizing travel to places like national parks instead

Vegas was never the same after covid. I missed the buffets.

Someone from out there told me that the overall handle has held up. Don’t know if that’s accurate. Yes, the amenities have gotten very expensive, especially at the higher end places. This is clearly a deliberate strategy by many of the operators. Going for a higher end clientele I guess.

Does it still have the appeal? Guess that depends. There’s a lot out there. Pro sports, shows, great restaurants and a lot of neat outdoor stuff.

I’m here now. Been here since Christmas Day. It’s really crowded. I’ve seen it more crowded this time of year, but don’t let anyone tell you it’s a ghost town. I don’t and have never been a big gambler. I come here to eat and see shows and concerts. So far on this trip I e eaten at Herbs & Rye, Peter Luger’s, Golden Steer, and Secret Pizza among other places. Have seen two shows and The Wizard of Oz @ The Sphere. Going to see the MJ Live (Michael Jackson tribute) tonight. Went downtown Saturday and it was jam packed. Watched some of the LSU game at Circa.

The reports of Las Vegas’ demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Vegas for most blue collar people is an excuse to "forget" a lot of things and blow budgets. For most of them, it's the only time they're going to travel by air for vacation for years on end. They're never going to be in Venice, so they think the Venetian is an experience.

There is great white tablecloth food in IAH, DFW, NYC, ORD, and more, with plenty of entertainment options domestically.

Not trying to shite on you, but you bragged about seeing a tribute band in one of the most expensive entertainment cities in the US. I'm sure they're good, but tribute bands are $12 a ticket affairs, not Vegas prices.

Nah dude lol. I’ve lived in both Houston and Dallas, and to act like they’re total vacation upgrades over Vegas is a bit naive. Vegas schools anything the big cities in TX have to offer.

What’s killing Vegas is it’s inability to compete with the East and West coast cities. Those cities get way more tourism money due to the fact that they have entertainment industries that can match the GDP’s of their non-entertainment sectors.
