Why dont you just leave the kids at home with nanny? You have 2 kids and are bringing a nanny to the beach to watch your kids while you and your wife are there?
You must not have kids. LOL
It’s not like the guy and his wife are just going to shut the kid and the nanny in the room and ignore them for the whole vacation

Indeed. We're going with another family who is bringing their nanny (they have 3 including 2 toddler twins). Often they'll bring the 5-6 year old out and leave the toddlers with the nanny so the older girl gets to go to dinner, etc.
We're not bringing ours since we only have 1. If we have another kid I suspect we will start, though. There is some selfishness to it (going out to a nicer dinner, etc.), but a lot of it would be about being able to travel as a whole family while not having to split up mom and dad while the older kid has his first beach experiences that he'll remember.

Really? I would say because kids freaking love the beach.

No one thinks it’s a bad spot. People just lol at baws like OP who call it “30A” like it’s some sort of elite vacationing society club.

Lil man is 6 months old. He has not been away from us yet more than 12 hours. Wife still gets some R/R on the beach, at pool, etc and baby nearby. Do yall not have kids? This thread is odd. I throw in my 2c on prices and end up defending choices.
Why does this trigger yall so much?

It’s Santa Rosa Beach now, get with the cool lingo.
We are going for a different experience this year…staying at the Pearl and are going to check out Rosemary for a change of scenery.

we had fun because we were 3 houses from the beach and could walk to red bar for drinks.
i have just as much fun at gulf shores when its just our family and we go during the off season.
boarding the animals sucks though; almost $2,000 for 4 dogs & a cat for 9 days.
i told the wife NO MORE PETS so hopefully we can start to simplify things as they pass away. i'm too old for complex these days

banker friend of mine told me if there's one business he would reccomend for a younger couple with plenty of energy, its dog boarding. He has a few accounts and said they absolutely kill it

Pet sitter, bro. Eff boarding.
My girl waters the plants, gets mail/packages, takes out/brings in garbage. And anything else you may need done at the crib.
And WAY cheaper.

Same here. Was speaking to the wife to find a sitter/ maid. Watch the dogs + cleans the house, does the laundry, etc. If you know of one like that on the Houston area, holla.
Currently she just watches the dogs. Roughly half the price of boarding plus we don’t have to go make an extra stop on the way home.

You're not doing it right. Find a responsible college student to stay at your house for $1,000. They still go to class or work during the day, but come by once during the day and are there in the morning and spend the night. Going rate in Houston is about $50 for 2 dogs. I'd say $75 a day for your brood is about right. It's easy money for them. Your pets are also much happier.

We are in the 30A camp. We have been making 8-10 trips a year. We are actually looking to buy a place in Rosemary or Alys.
HOWEVER, summertime is extremely crowded. We have been going for Christmas the past few years and it's an awesome time. We also have been staying in Rosemary and not right on the beach. Our kids are young and they love to go to all of the parks in Alys and Rosemary. We don't end up actually going on the beach nearly as much.
I have traveled all over the world. I don't hold any delusions that 30A is the end all be all of vacations spots. However, my wife and I aren't able to take long stretches off of work and there is no place better for us within 4 hours of home.
