Had a nice day at Crystal today with no lines. Entire mountain was open too, now compare that with Stevens pass which still only has 3/12 lifts open and 17/77 runs. Big shitshow with Vail Resorts running Stevens, apparently a lot of the ski patrol left last year due to mismanagement and it's showing this season. Apparently a few petitions have been started to get rid of Vail

We’ve been lazy and hitting Snoqualmie lately. The snow has actually been incredible. Light & fluffy. Tons of powder.

Saw that Crystal now wants reservations starting soon? Bummer.

Is that the same as Steven’s Pass?

Happy new ski year all

I am still yet to venture over to Snoqualmie, I really need to after work for some quick laps. Are you going on weeknights, weekdays, or weekends? Best place to park, best runs?

Saw that email as soon as I got home yesterday. Seems similar to last year, but confused on whether this means that there will be no saturday or sunday skiing for ikon pass holders the entire month of january or if this means they will not sell single day tickets to outsiders for January? Reservations open up 9am on Tuesday so I'll be ready

Guests will have until 10am to cancel their reservation otherwise it will be treated as a no-show and will be subject to a violation
There will be no tickets available on weekends that reservations are full and we are eliminating all inventory for Sat/Sun in January immediately

Any of y’all ever hit Wolf Creek in Pagosa Springs?

May possibly try to get away for a quick trip without the family sometime.

Was supposed to go last year but cancelled because of Covid. Be careful, the drive there can be sketchy.

Amazing day 2 of 4 in Vail today. My sons, 23 and 20, and I did 20 lifts. I’m exhausted. I hope my legs survive, even though I work out 5x per week. On one of the lift rides up, we were with a Vail employee of 36 years. He said today was about the best conditions you could ask for. Lots of powder.

I did a solo trip to Wolf Creek a few years ago but stayed in South Fork on the other side of the pass. South Fork is a little cheaper, very few eating options and limited lodging but that side of the pass closes less often then the Pagosa Springs side and in fact the Pagosa side was closed one of my days while my side was open and I felt like I had the whole mountain to myself. I loved Wolf Creek, low lift lines, great hike to terrain, they get a ton of snow(most in CO) and very mom and pop. Only downside was as a snowboarder there are some long flat areas throughout the mountain.

Great info, thanks. I’ve only been skiing 3 times, but prefer to be on the mountain skiing vs nightlife and such so wolf creek sounds like it would fit me just fine.

Anyone have any recs on headphones for skiing? I want some that are Bluetooth and easy to control under a helmet so that I don't have to take my phone out to pause music. Walkie talkie capability to communicate with my friends would also be a plus. Also need them to be secure so I don't lose them when I crash

Another great day at Mary Jane. I just really like that mountain for day trips. After about 30 days in the last two years I’m finally getting my bearings Birdbird skies and soft snow made me forget the single digit temps.

My wife rented touring gear and skinned up nearly to the top of Pano before meet up. I guess she’ll be buying a setup before the month is over.

My friend went to Keystone and said it was shite. They don’t have a lot of terrain open.

Re:Waze... I find that if you are in route and get rerouted, it’s worth a look. But if it’s telling you to take a weird route down some one lane road, it’s telling everyone to do the same and it will soon be overwhelmed. People get detoured off 70 at Floyd Hill only to get stuck in 2 miles of traffic at the intersection of Hwy 6 praying that someone lets you in. Unfortunately there’s not really a shortcut from Denver. Ikon Pass is my advice for a shortcut.

Eta: CDOT now has a decent app thats only a few dollars. You can add shortcuts to their cameras and it has the most up to day road closure plus plow locations to know what they’re working on.

Looking like a full go on Thursday in Tahoe. Roads look to be clearing up going to have blue skies on Saturday and Sunday.

Just finished our second day in Big Sky, MT. It’s amazing here. Runs, food, lodging is all superb. I’ll be in line when the lifts open at 9.

And now Crystal retracts on lift reservations and goes with parking reservations.

Going to Schweitzer Wednesday night. Can’t wait.
