In! Hell yeah I’m so pumped for this season. My son and I have set a lifetime goal to snowboard all 50 states. It was his idea and I have found one person that has skied all 50. This year we’re going to Breck and Vail. Going to try to knock off Missouri (Hidden Valley)Alamaba (Cloudmont) and NC (sugar mountain). If we get a couple inches of snow I can knock of Louisiana. I’ll be monitoring weather and might drive up to some hill in Mississippi as well. For it to qualify for a ride I have to go 100 yards. I’m so pumped.

There are some places in Vicksburg where you can take care of this (provided we get the snow). What’s your plan for Florida?

I don’t know. I assume Florida will be the most difficult and the guy that skied all 50 said Florida was by far the hardest. He said he watched the weather and when they got snow he found a hill on the side of a church. That was as specific as he’d get. I don’t have a definitive plan for 12 of the 13 states without official resorts. The 13th is Hawaii and they have Mauna Kea. That one will be difficult as well just for distance/cost and I don’t think you’re guaranteed snow. But for those other 12 I have identified areas that might be good. But it will have to be a combination of luck and timing I guess. Louisiana will be easy if we get snow like we did a couple years ago, we will just walk over to hole 4 at Abita golf course. It’s a long enough hill with a steep enough angle. Should be able to get a 100 yard ride out of it. Midwest will be a challenge too because of the distance to OK, NE and KS. Delaware will have the snow but it’s just a proximity thing as well.

Take a lesson the first day...at least a 1/2 day, preferably a full day.

Finally!

Gunning for 50+ days on the slopes this year, mostly at Winter Park and Copper. Potentially roadtripping to Alta and Snowbird and Steamboat as well. Biggest obstacle to a 50 day season will be injury prevention...

Only skiing 2 days in Heavenly? What pass do you recommend I buy? Would a 2 day epic pass be the best thing to get?

If you’re only skiing 2 days, a 2 day pass at Heavenly will be your best bet. If you plan on skiing anywhere else this year, I’d get the Epic pass

Should I buy the pass now or wait til I get there?

You absolutely should buy the pass now. If you wait until you’re there, you might end up paying double the price you’d pay now.

Make sure you examine the black out dates on your pass and that you’ll be able to use the pass when you want to go. Most resorts’ black out dates are Christmas and Presidents’ Day.

Is $135 a good price for 2 day pass?

Yes. The price will likely go up in October.

$135 is honestly way cheaper than I’d expect for Heavenly at this point. Very nice and popular resort.

Got the fams Ikon passes in the mail the other day.

So far, I’ve got a Beaver Creek (birds of prey weekend), Crested Butte x2, and Steamboat planned. Fill the time between with day trips to Winter Park.

I’m trying to hold off on new skis for one more year, but the Volkl Revolt 104s are calling my name. I need to make an appointment to get new boots. I wanted to go the Surefoot route but I’m now leaning towards an indy shop with custom insoles.
