What's the latest on the iPhone vs Android (Samsung) debate?

Am due for an upgrade. I have had a Galaxy model since I first got a smartphone 10 or so years ago. I have always been an Apple hater due to the charger thing and now the lack of phone jack (but it seems like Samsung has joined them on that). The few friends I have shite on me for ruining grouptexts with my android and I'm pretty insecure about that. Hate both Apple and Google as companies so I don't really know what to do.

I picked up a Note 20 Ultra for a good deal at best buy. So far I'm liking it.

iPhone all day every day. I say that as an Open Source/Linux geek.
The two main things for me are security and ease of use. It's a phone and I don't want to tinker with it. I would give iMessage as a big reason why but there's always Signal, which android will eventually bake into their default message app anyway.
The ads I got on all my devices when I had a Google Pixel were creepy as hell.
I don't think I've ever plugged my current iPhone into anything. Wireless all the way.

Apple's BS infrastructure is a huge turn off. Their whole goal is to trap you in their ecosystem forever. An iPhone is for someone who cannot work technology and wants the grandpa experience.

You want a Pixel. Samsung has been trash since the Galaxy 3. The OS matters most and Samsung's skinned over version of Android is more bloated than it needs to be.
Also, you need new friends of they all have iPhones...

Do you have faith in that statement for 5-10 years?
I’ll stick with iMessage as I know their business model and it’s to sell me devices.

You are probably talking about Touchwiz. Samsung's One UI is legit. I like it just as much as pure Android. I didn't think I'd switch from the Pixel line but the new phones have been underwhelming. Love the S20.

LIke being in an eco system where your whole digital life--from Computer to phone to pad to Watch to home speakers to even headphones smoothly and effortlessly integrate is such bad thing...

Can apple still not text from the computer unless it's an apple computer? That would be the biggest turnoff for me.
