Go.

I enjoy reading, but don't care for iPads. I use an iPad for work and much prefer a laptop if I need to use the Internet. iPhone 6 is enough in regards to apps and the apple product. Also, I have a smart tv so ruling that out.

I can't think of anything tech related that would make life easier. I try to keep things simple, I'm not into flashy stuff just for the hell of it, but if something, regardless of price, would make life easier-I wanna hear about it.

One of the Kindle Readers. It is like reading off of paper.

Is there blue light for it? I read before bed, but I don't like reading from a device because I can't fall asleep after reading from a screen. I know it doesn't have a bright light, but is there blue ligh?

Any use for a NAS at home? Could go with a model that makes web-access easy

Security cameras & NVR?

1) Wink hub with smart lights. It's pricey but nothing beats being able to control 4 lights separately in my bedroom for when the kiddo sleeps or my wife and I wanna have romantic time. Or when I want to dim the lights from my phone in the main den when the kiddo is sleeping on sofa or doesn't feel well.

2) Do you have a receiver with your TV setup and other devices like Roku or AppleTV? If so, get a Logitech harmony remote. This combines the use of 2-4 remotes all into 1 and makes things easier.

"Connected" items for the home, such as wi-fi thermostat, light switches, door locks, doorbell. I think a Ring doorbell is going to be my next purchase.

Logitech Harmony Remote

One of the best purchases I've ever made. Everyone from me to my wife to my 62 year old mother to even my 89 year old Grandmother can use it to turn on and off the Smart Plasma TV, the Cable Box, the Sound Bar and the Apple TV, along with controlling them based on the function, etc.

It's so simple...and getting rid of 4 remotes was a dream.

Not sure what you mean by "blue light" -- are you talking about the color temperature?

The light on a Kindle Paperwhite is a frontlight, not a backlight. That means, unlike an iPad/iPhone/computer screen, the light is not coming from behind the screen towards your eyes. The light is reflected from the bezel onto the front of the e-ink display.

I read my Kindle Paperwhite at night before sleep all the time, and it doesn't interfere with my ability to sleep like my iPhone/Mac laptop do. I find it's better than turning a lamp on and reading a paper book by lamplight.

I really like the idea of paper books so I held off from getting a Kindle for a long time, but I couldn't be more happy with my purchase now.

I used to buy a lot of books and by the time they'd come in, I'd already lost interest and just put them on the shelf for another time. Now I can immediately download and read a book while I still am interested in it. Kindle books also often cost less than their paper counterpart, and if you're a less scrupulous individual, there are tons of pirate ebooks out there.

And when you have to run out and want to bring a book, you no longer have to worry about making a decision on what to grab. The Kindle has space for tons of stuff on it.

Not to mention it fits on your hands so much easier and is lighter than a paper book. It's comfortable to use in many settings.

So yeah, I guess you could say I don't miss paper books.

Research them. They are perfectly visible and highly adjustable as far as the brightness does. The readers do not have a backlight like an iPad does. It is very different. You really have to research and see it to understand.

For anyone considering a Logitech remote, make sure to spend the extra money and get the hub based system that uses Rf.... It's so much smoother than a standard ir controller (yes I know the hub uses ir as well)

Harmony Elite Remote with Hub is awesome.

Has IR, RF, and Bluetooth so you can control pretty much any device, including Fire TV and PS4.

I recently upgraded from an 8 yr old Harmony 550, and I haven't had one regret about the high price.

Being able to us your phone as an additional remote is pretty neat as well.
