I want a smart vacuum. It will really just be for hard floors (tile and wood). I'd like it to be affordable but good at working 1-2 times a weak just to control pet hair/dander.

Thoughts?

All depends on what you want to spend, but we got a Roomba 960. It was already discounted on Bed Bath and Beyond with the introduction of the i Series. It also qualified for the 20% off coupon. We love it!! It is way better than the Deebot we had before. The smart mapping feature is really a game changer for us compared to the random bouncing around of the Deebot. Both cleaned well, but the Roomba thoroughly cleans my entire space with each cleaning cycle. We have two dogs and I couldn't imagine life without it. It runs every other day and I come home to spotless floors. Depending on your budget, we would be able to provide recommendations. Any of them is better than none, but there really is best bang for the buck among them depending on your price range.

I have gone through about 3 Roombas and recently bought a Shark Ion with a handheld combo. I caught a better sale then the link below, but this isn't bad either. It is thinner than my previous Roombas so doesn't get stuck as often under my couch. You will be surprised how much these things will pull when you run them. we schedule ours to run m-f while we are out, and we manually kick off on the weekends when we are going to be gone a bit.

Roborock is a lifesaver for Labrador hair. It’s $400 less than the Roomba with mapping built in and has more suction power and better battery life.

NewEgg has the Roborock S50, mentioned here recently as a great option, on sale for $390 for the next 3 days.

End thread. Unbeatable for the price. Period.

Have a Shark one. It picks up dust and dog hair like a champ but I'm not convinced the thing doesn't just move around randomly.

I run a Neato Botvac D5. It's got "lasers" on its fricking forehead. I can set up virtual "do not cross" lines once it maps out the house to keep it out of areas I don't want it in. Once it does have the house mapped, it figures out where it is no matter where you start it up and cleans. If it runs out of power, it just goes to charge up and then picks up where it left off after it charges up. It has three separate floor plans that it can store so you can clean multistory houses by just setting it down where you want it to clean and it figures out which map it's on and off it goes. It's a fricking godsend and it entertains the cat for 45 minutes as she stalks it around the house.

Whichever you end up with, a side brush is a MUST. Non-negotiable. If you don't get one with a side brush, it'll leave a ring of dust around your baseboards because its main brush doesn't extend all the way to the outside of the robot. The side brush throws that dirt out in front of the robot. Also, round robots can't get into corners. Robots with square fronts can better get into those corners.

I must warn you with pets, though, to never, Never, NEVER set it up to run unmonitored while you're away or without doing a quick inspection of the area you want to clean first.

I've been looking into Neato's lately. Why did you go with the D5 instead of D3 or D7?

New floors in the house show every spec of dust and dog prints. We'll see if this is the answer

I have an Ecovac deebot 907 I got from Costco on sale for $250. It’s pretty awesome. Maps, barriers, area cleaning. Only problem I’m had is that one of the gaskets by the bin has come loose. Emailed ecovacs and they are sending me a new one.

Bought a Roborock S5 (sometimes branded as a Roborock S50) and that thing is fantastic, especially for the price.

i am looking into the s6.

also looking at the shark iq self empty bc that sounds awesome, however i doubt it's as good of a product as the s6? reviews say it doesn't work properly.

Yeah, I'm following too. Just moved into a new house, all hardwood and tile, with area rugs. House is large 2600 Sqft on main floor, so would like one that can do the whole house, even if it's like 1/2 one day, and 1/2 the next.

i saw a review that said the roomba i7 has rubber brushes so no tangles with pet hair? that sounds like a huge plus for my needs.

i'm definitely looking at this roomba i7 and the s6v

I’m going to try the room a i7+ first. I really like that the s6v has better reviews (less complaints) it seems to have a better app system? And I love that it is won’t run into things, but I’m going to try the roomba because of recommendations here and how great it is with pet hair, which is a huge deal for me.

It does a pretty good job not getting tangled. Maybe have untangled it a few times in 18 months
