Just got the warning from comcast i'm nearing my 1 tb data use for the month. I thought i had unlimited data till today. Didnt really monitor just switched over like 3 weeks ago and i was the only one really streaming and hard core gaming before cord cutting.I have a family of 5 so not sure if i will be able to keep under 1 tb a month especially with summer coming up. Thats a lot of streaming. Comcast wants to charge an extra like 50 bucks a month for unlimited data. I'm already paying 70 a month. I get two courtesy months of exceeding the tb with no charge . so i will monitor closly next month. AT&T currently has 1gb download speed and unlimited data for 80 a month but we all know after taxes and all it will be close to 95 a month. Looks like this will be my only option unless i go back to satellite

Yeah, they gotta protect that TV revenue, and it's only going to get worse under the current administration.

Give them a ball and tell them to go outside.

1TB a month is a lot of streaming.

That's a lot of data. I agree with the other poster...Give them a ball and a stick and tell them to go outside.

In seriousness though, $50/mo extra for the unlimited internet would still come out cheaper than internet plus satellite, no? You wouldn't be locked back into another contract.

Cord cutting has been great. It's changed our watching habits for the better for sure.

Is Spectrum available in your area? No data cap, $40/month starting at 100mbps.

Damn that's a good deal.

I'm paying $64.99/ month for Charter's 60mbps.

Honest question, is 1TB of data a lot for a month for a typical family? I'm not sure how much I have with Cox, but they keep increasing my price (Internet only) and I am thinking about switching.

My thought as well. 1 TB in under a month is almost unheard of.

I thought my wife and I watched a lot of TV (PS Vue, Netflix, Kodi), but we haven't exceeded 300 GB with our Comcast account yet. We don't have a kid that is at solo tv watching age yet, but even if we had kids that doubled our tv watching, we still wouldn't hit 1TB.

Have you considered putting a curfew on your router? Basically lock out the kids after hours? Who knows what data sucking stuff they leave running on their computers when they aren't even using them.

Good luck once Net Neutrality is completely eradicated, that amount will drop to 500GB and you will be charged an extra $70 twice

I think this is only the short term. TV is changing and they're trying to suck every last dollar out of us they can. But make no mistake about it, cord cutting is not going away so I think companies like ATT and others are realizing that fact.

Spectrum disgruntled employee randomly downvoting me. OP, if available in your area, look into it. It's been great so far and there's an option to upgrade to faster internet if needed.

Wasn't me, but Spectrum is Charter, which a lot of us had once. I think it's more likely someone else down voted you because Charter was at one point the worst overall company in any industry in all of America.

Yeah, that's actually what I've always heard. I was with Verizon fiOS for the longest which I absolutely loved (but came with a premium price). Charter just needed to re-brand and start with something 'new', but I can't blame former customers because it's like me leaving Sprint for terrible plans and service and then going back to it.

We've been over 1TB every month since we got a PS4. Online gaming consumes a lot of data.
