However, fast moving images (sports) run like shite on the roku, while performing exceptionally on the Xbox and chromecast.

Anything that I can do to fix this?

Get a firestick. Sports runs fine on it. Hate the interface of youtubetv and the fast forward function.

Which Roku do you have? I use the Stick+ and the Ultra throughout the house and sports look great. I tried the built in Roku on one of the TVs and had that issue so had to get an actual Roku Device for that one too.

ETA: I have two Apple TVs but I flat out cannot stand the remote so I discontinued them in favor of Roku. The AppleTV 4k switches channels the fastest and is the most responsive of all the devices I've tried, but the remote killed it for me.

Yeah I don't have that problem with either Roku in my house on YouTubeTV.

One is just the stick, the other is a TV with Roku integrated into it.

Invest in an Apple TV. It's worth it if you use it as your main TV source. I use it for everything YouTube TV, Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple Music.

I have a Fire Stick 4K and a very fast internet connection and the streaming is flawless.

I have ATTTV but share the same sentiment. Folks love fire sticks (and they certainly have their place) but I wouldn’t count on it on for your main TV viewing device. Need something with more power.

I have ATT TV (not att tv now) but it appears to be through the ATT TV Now app. Is that what you use? On my FTV4kS, the video has a noticeable jump to it every few seconds. It drives me nuts. Does yours do that?

I noticed that my old fireTV 4k 2nd gen has no issues with the image jumping.

Sorry should have clarified, i meant ATT TV which replaced DTVNow. The steaming version. Not just Uverse TV streaming.

But I generally watch on an 4K Apple TV and generally don’t experience any buffering. But I’ve also got ATT gigabit with google Wifi. I went pretty overkill with the speed/router because I knew we’d be going full time streaming and of course all the devices we already have around the house.

Be sure the Roku's software is up to date by going to Settings > System > System update > Check now.

Try a reboot.

Which model Roku are you using?

So this gets really confusing since At&t marketing is inept......

1) "At&t TV Now" is the replacement of DirecTV Now
2) "At&t TV" is a new television providing service aimed to replace DirecTV satellite service. It is a full fledged TV service mirroring DirecTV with the difference being that At&t TV is completely IP based. They send you a set top box that you plug in to the internet and viola. You essentially get directv over the internet with fully featured set top box.
3) At&t TV allows you to also utilize the full TV service through an app so you don't need extra boxes if you don't want them. They do it through the At&t TV Now app (to make it more confusing) but I am not sure if it is using the exact same streams as At&t TV Now or if there are separate, higher quality streams for the At&t TV customers.
4) uverse is completely separate from all this and even has its own app. All the video on uverse is subpar quality.

So be careful referring to "at&t TV Now" as "At&t TV" as they are two completely separate services with apparently a common app.

Geezus I hate how stupid at&t has become.

Likewise.
We have a TCL with integrated Roku and it works well.

Had one. Wasn't nearly as good as my 2nd gen FireTV. We put it in the boys room as a back up to their Firestick 4k.

Really? I find Amazon's app/interface annoying as can be. Ads everywhere and random product placement drives me nuts.

Apple TV by far is cleanest (possibly most dull) out of all of them. I'd give the nvidia shield tv a close 2nd.

There is no one perfect streaming device. Apple lacks support for some things like HDR on many apps. It struggles with 23.976 FPS content (it only does 24fps).

Not everyone goes by the looks or just usability. Because of this, we all will struggle to find the "perfect" streaming device.

We like using the Alexa features also. Siri homekit or whatever it is, is the most garbage of all of them.

We did have some better performance on some apps on the Apple TV but they were the apps we only watched one or two shows and done.

I'm on the trial period of YouTube TV and the UI is pure shite. You have to know what you want to watch and even then it's hard to find.

When we were first cutting the cord, at first this seemed like a downside to using alternative services. It didn't take long before it turned into a positive. We realized that if we didn't want to watch anything in particular, maybe we didn't need to watch anything at all. We have much more time for other things.
