Where I can hook my firestick into it and not have to worry about dealing with a whole bunch of crap already installed on the TV?

Probably not but just ignore the "smart" stuff and use the firestick.

That's what I do, but I have to unscrew things when my wife gets involved.

Should be able to use the firestick remote for TV power and volume and then hide the TV remote

Spectre makes a line of TVs that aren’t smart but are HD or 4k. You can get them from Best Buy or online somewhere.

any smart TV can be setup to turn on directly to the fire stick so you never deal with it.

Why don't you just buy a smart fire tv? They are the exact same as plugging in a firestick. Same interface, remote, etc. It is legitimately the exact same thing you would see if you had a non smart tv and plugged a firestick into it.

I went with the Roku version because the wife already knows that interface and I "constantly change up every other tech in her life"* in the office and master bedroom and have been very pleased with the results.

*Just because I switched from Hulu Live to YouTube TV the same year we dropped ADT for SimpliSafe

Sounds like you need a new wife, not TV.

Legit the reason why I didn't use my LG apps instead of the fire stick is because I didn't wanna type in my passwords again

that is the answer.

I see no reason to ever buy a tv that isn't a Firetv built in or Roku built in.

I dont think there is really anything on the market without any OS on it. We recently got a LG and it has its own OS, but all we did is just plug our AppleTV into it and never use the OS. We never even connected it to the internet.

I might use the TVs OS if it wasn't plastered with ads and had no lag. If I'm spending $2000 for a TV, it shouldn't be a burden to use its functions, but that's just the society we live in now.

I just got a chrome cast 4k box and it has been great. The Apple TV 4K box didn’t yield as good a picture.

The Sony tv has the option to disable the smart tv functionality.

I have never connected my 1 year old Samsung TV to the internet. Just turn it on and watch my Directv DVR or change input to watch Roku. I have no idea how the Samsung OS works and have never seen any ads that didn't come from Directv or Roku.
