iPhone doesn't do this well. And trust me, the Android user will get blamed for it.

My advice is to use GroupMe or WhatsApp for group messages.

this or you can have the android person start the message, that has worked for us in the past.

Annoying as hell and something that started happening in the last couple of months. I have multiple group messages for work, they're fairly critical and the main line of com since COVID. I've had to split a few into iPhone people and Android people. Makes it painful to keep everyone on the same sheet of music.

I also hit airplane mode or restart to get the message to send.

There is a major iphone bug for the last few months since an update, causing havoc with iphone sms messages. Google it. Apple is being a dick and not fixing it to claim iMessage is better.

One day, in a moment of sheer frustration, I kept sending the group message again and again...and after the fourth attempt, it went through successfully. Now, each time I send a group message involving Android, it consistently goes through on the fourth attempt. Definitely not a fix, but I'm curious if this "method" is working for anyone else...

Happens often in a small group text I'm part of. 2 of us have iPhones, the other guy has an Android. He will reply to us, then a few minutes later send something else, and the second one comes through first. We all took screenshots and sent them, and all three phones they came in different order. The replies between the iPhones were sequential, but the replies back from the Android were different on all three. Obviously his showed the order he sent, but on mine they were flipped, and the other guy had them in the right order but some of my replies were in there differently as well.

It also messes with the messages on my Apple Watch. Even though I have read them on there, it will end up showing a half dozen unread messages, and I have to click in and out of the message a few times to clear it out. No idea why there isn't a standard among the two by now. Also the emojis will come through weird. One of us will send a thumbs up or something else and it looks different, or is a different emoji altogether.

I think that's because Android sucks.

Good. Maybe Apple will push others to buy into better standards so that everyone is using something better than SMS, which is antiquated and not encrypted.

Remember that rumor that Apple was considering putting their messaging client out for Android?

Still waiting.

Turn your Wi-Fi off... your phone is trying to send that iMessage and you need to just send a text message.

I’ve had this issue also, especially when sending picture messages.

Turn off the Wi-Fi and sending via the cell tower always works, so my iPhone can send texts to android users.

Except an iPhone will send iMessages through cell towers too. I’m not sure what turning off wifi will accomplish as the iPhone immediately recognizes another iPhone before sending by having a blue or green “send” arrow.

I’ve tried various things to fix this issue, and all are inconsistent. WiFi Off, Airplane Mode On/Off, Restarting, SMS on/off, etc.

It’s very frustrating.

I agree, it was definitely a work around.

When i had this issue, the texts would come back immediately with the red text saying the message was not sent.

Are you getting the red error messages immediately when texting Android users from your iPhone?
