So if all I do is stream Youtube Tv, 500mbps is overkill then right?

Absolutely. You could get by with 50Mbps and handle 10 TVs at a time.

What? I had to turn a vpn on yesterday to watch the Astros game on my phone.

Their point is that literally nothing you posted subsequent to that matters. Until you’ve offered a non-VPN data point, your “issue” isn’t worth discussing, as we have no idea whether it’s actually an issue

I had a vpn running on my phone when I did it. But it still shouldn't be that bad.

VPNs annihilate internet speeds.

Stop using Cox. They are the worst company ever.

Much better than ATT and Spectrum.

I'd say so. I had 250Mbps and dropped it to 100 and really don't see a difference. We have an IPTV service in the living room and my kids streaming on their phones. Never any issues.

I don't think it's available where I'm at right now.

I just switched from DTV to YTtv to save money.
If I go over my data limit, I'll drop down to 250mbps and get unlimited data.
That should be about the same amount or maybe even cheaper.

ATT Fiber is the best. I had Cox for ten years and I will never use that company again. Now, I have ATT Fiber and have not had an issue in four months.

Some of us have 2 options. Cox, or 50mpbs through AT&T. So, not all of us can quit using Cox even though we'd want to.

To OP, many have probably nailed the issue; but it also wouldn't hurt to do a master reset on your modem from time to time. Disconnect coax & power cable. Wait about a minute, plug coax back in, then power up. When my speeds start lagging a little, this fixes it most of the time. If I am still having problems I have to call Cox and have them send me a reboot from their side. Sometimes there will be an upgrade sent in from Cox and it "gets hung up" and the reboot pushes it through.

They make me do the refresh I discussed above, but the only time these 2 steps didn't resolve my problem was when we found out a squirrel chewed up my wire.
