Even the 100Mbs plan will be a night and day difference to you. My parents were still on dialup/dsl till 2017 when they moved to the ATL area and got ATT fiber.

They were amazed at how much better the internet was in that it was so responsive and consistent. Never have to "hang up" and redial

I was amazed as well as that was my first exposure to fiber optic and just assumed ATT would suck. So glad that when I moved in 2018 that ATT fiber was an option.

Not available. My only other option is satellite internet and here is what the local company offers.

1 gigabit is about 18000 times faster than 56 kilobits.

If we assumed a very slow pace of 1 mph for a human, 18000x that speed would not be the speed of riding in a car, but instead just over the speed of a space shuttle orbiting the Earth (17,500mph).

Get the fiber, but rural folks be advised that AT&T Fixed Wireless ($60) may be an option for you. AT&T

My parents had horrible DSL that barely functioned due to ancient phone lines in their area. Put them on AT&T Fixed Wireless, which draws off cell phone tower signal, and they are now streaming Netflix and living like modern folk. Customers typically get 25Mbps, and theirs was a little less but still good.

The cell signal at their house was barely detectable with a phone, but the antenna/box AT&T put on the roof picked up plenty for internet. I think Verizon offers a similar service in some areas.

I'm blown away that there are still people on dial-up in 2022. I'm having a hard time comprehending it.

I don't see how it's possible to use WWW on dialup unless you're rocking Lynx.

I'm sorry, but you've been accessing Tiger Droppings since 2005 with dialup?
