How does one go about chewing through a terabyte in a month?

And $10 per additional 1/2 Terra isn't bad unless they don't prorate it.

So remove government regulations (lobbied for by monopolies) and accomplish the same thing. I don't care what the mechanism is. Both ways work.

Google fibers struggles in Nashville are a good example. I helped them through the environmental permit arena quickly.. and they were held up by lawyers.

It's $10 for an extra 50 GB. Not half a TB.

So if you use 1.5 it would be $100 plus your normal $69-90 bill

As fricked up as this, short of having like 4 kids who stream morning, noon and night, no one should even come close to 1,024 GBs in a month. shite, I am on my phone 24/7 and that barely hits 17gb.

We hit 50gb and 60gb on June 3rd and 4th. 4 kids hanging around house all day playing Xbox and minecraft on their ipads, and 2 streams going about 18hrs of the day.
Do this every weekend and then average 25gb a day on week days and you're over.
It's not impossible for families. Not at all.

I only have 1 other option in my area other than ATT (awful).

And I would have to downgrade from 150 MBPS speeds to 24 MBPS albeit uncapped with this new option.

very familiar with this. they're right downstairs from me.

once the one-touch pole rule went into effect their efforts ramped up substantially.

AT&T charges after 1 TB.

But...........

If you buy their cable tv package you get unlimited data.

That's how they get you.

Don't forget y'all: Netflix still has the snail mail service. 2 DVD's at a time = $12/month. 2 Blu Ray's = $15. Cox is going to get some people acting like it's 2010 again.

A VPN can be used so cox will not throttle your downloading/Netflix, etc

Do you always use VPN? If so, maybe try not using it for a couple weeks (if you can) and see if your "calculated data usage" magically drops. Just a thought.

Really want to get pissed at your data cap?

1 TB per month = 3.16 mbs
Put it another way: you can use 1 TB in a month by downloading at only 3.16 mbs.

1 TB per month =
34.33 GB per day =
1.422 GB per hour =
3.16 mbs

I pay for 300 mbs. If I used what I'm paying for then I'd blow through 95 TB a month.
If you have gigablast then you'd use 324 TB each month.

Either charge me for the speed and give me unlimited data, or charge me for the data and give me unlimited speed. Not the worst part of both.

i'm usually around 700GB.
I work from home for the most part so i'm on the computer a good bit throughout the day. We have roku's and firetvs streaming in the afternoon and weekends when we are home and inside. kids watch kids play with toys on their tablets. wife farts around on facebook and what not. i fart around on here.
I used to stream ESPN or FoxNews in the background while i worked but i've had enough of both of them so i don't even use them as background noise anymore.

I'm sure if you do what my family does and then throw in some online gaming, you'd reach that 1TB.

This is just wrong and stupid. If they wanted to do this and not piss us cord-cutting nerds off, they'd make a slightly more expensive option that doesn't have a limit. They talk about this "Gigablast" that allows 2 TB/month but it isn't available here, of course.

Why would they want cord cutters to be happy? So they can make less money?

Can any streamers comment?

Is 24 MBPS enough to run:

- Multiple streaming devices at once? (Apple TV in one room Roku in another?

- Xbox One gaming + 1 of these streaming devices at once?

- Add up to 3 wireless devices at once?

to the folks criticizing those whom this will actually affect, consider this: What if cable companies put a cap on how much time you and your family could spend watching cable? It's a product you already pay for and doesn't cost them shite if you go over this arbitrary limit, but now, after all this time, there's a limit you'll have to pay extra to exceed?
