Need to pick up a TV, drive it 10min home… can I stuff it in my SUV AND LAY IT FLAT/sideways or do I need a truck to keep it upright? Any flat screen hauler survivors out there with an answer? TIA

It will probably be alright if you tilt it up as close to upright as you can and drive slowly. How big is it?

Also I'm not responsible if you take my advice and it cracks.

Last TV I bought, 65", I laid it flat in the bed of my truck, drove regular, no issues. Granted it was nice and boxed up, but I figured that was probably the gentlest it had been transferred the entire trip from Japan to my house.

Shod be ok but you could wrap it in a couple towels or a moving blanket to make sure.

As long as the screen is face up.

You can definitely lay it flat to move. That’s the way I have always moved TV’s. A little cushion on top and bottom is all you need if it’s not in the box

It should be okay. Go to Best Buy and you’ll see em stacked in piles on their bellies.

Plasma TVs were ornery about being laid on their side. Something about the gas.

I think it's more about the large flat surface with no support in that direction.

Yeah, the last TV we bought had a warning on the box to make sure if you layed it down on the flat side to make sure the screen was facing up to avoid damage. The box was clearly marked to make sure you were aware which side to face up.

Of course you can. Just make sure you drive with a passenger so TV is secured on both sides

LCDs should be fine. The older plasmas had some issues with the screens cracking when transported flat. Just keep the screen protected and don’t put anything on top.
