Lol. Exactly. Post pics when you get them.

no no, you don't need to do that.
go to arcadepunks and start familiarizing yourself with the images there. all someone did was burn an image on an SD card and hawking it for way too much money on amazon.
i would recommend buying a few blank SD cards of various sizes so you can flash different images for your pi.

Hey CAD, next time you come visit your daughter, there is a place in downtown Chatt called Classic Pinball. $15 for all day play, mostly pinball with a few retro classic arcade machines. They got a bunch of pinball machines though.

Picked up another $75 cabinet. I had moderate success with my drilling

Who cares; $75. Here's the Dell monitor mounted on the display bracket and in ready to plug in the other buttons and finish putting the cabinet together.
The Cambridge soundworks speakers sound fantastic.

Got mine working!
I ordered an amp so I can have sound. Will be here Saturday.

I'm close to having mine working. Need to take some pics but 99% of my problems stemmed from trying to cut my own holes. Aside from the bit walking I also misjudged how close to the edge I could put them so I had to Dremel the side of my cabinet and also cut metal off one of the joystick brackets.
Apparently one of the joysticks is upside down so when I configured player 1 the player 2 joystick is opposite so I have unscrew it and flip it.
I updated retropie and had login issues and got that fixed but I can't figure out how to get it to not stretch vertical games and the samples directory was empty so I'm trying to download the latest sound samples and put them in the right place.
Oh and my USB plug wasn't strong enough so it slowed my pi down to unusable levels and I had a lightning bolt on screen and had to find a thicker cable to fix that.
I don't mind though. I want to better understand how all this works anyway so I'm getting a crash course in learning raspberry pi
Lesson learned 1; buy premade control deck in button configuration you want. I'll never drill 6 new holes in an arcade1up deck again. I killed 2 drill batteries and had to move to a plug in drill.
Lesson learned 2: go for a used 20" monitor interested of 17". It's worth the extra effort to have the larger display.

SD card was already flashed with a fully working system. Buttons programmed. I was playing games in minutes.

Sounds like you need a better drill or new battery. I like corded for this reason. Control board was easy for me, premade was just ridiculously overpriced when I built mine for the cost of wood.

Would you be able to share a source/link for this? Thanks

$10 step bit from Amazon and that crappy MDF board control panel material. The bit would get extremely hot and I think it is just a poor quality bit anyway.
I have a drill press but I haven't finished remodeling my garage so it's under piles of crap right now so I was being lazy.
Still having trouble with games that use sounds samples.

No, there won’t be til it’s released. They don’t answer questions about it.

Exactly why I didn't wait. I'll buy a 4 when it's stable and swap out or get a new cab for it. The current model works perfectly fine for everything I've tried.

There are instructions out there for installing everything by hand for the pi4. It takes a bit of time to compile, but when you are done it works well. Upgraded my cocktail table to a pi 4.

Would like to mod a TMNT with more buttons and the ability to play nba jam and nfl blitz.
I wanna put it in my offices break room for the employees to chill with.

Update on my CAB project. If you recall, I wanted to do a NES themed machine. Got the artwork. However, the control panel artwork didnt matchup with ANY cab in the market so I had to make my own.
Went down to Home Depot and picked out a piece of wood and created my own. Used a regular drill and a wood bit to drill the holes.
Applying the artwork and lining up the holes was a pain in the arse. Its off a little but for what Im doing, it works.
Tomorrow I will add the buttons and the plexiglass I cut on top and finalize the layout panel. I will put artwork on the sides as well. More updates to come...
