The opening sea battle scene in Master and Commander will be a good test. Good highs and lows. If there is a weak point in your setup, this scene will expose it.

Check out Micca speakers. Prior to these, I was a Boston Acoustics fan. The Miccas are about 3 to 4 times cheaper, for something of equal to maybe better quality. I used them in a home theater setup on a previous house 5 years ago. I was trying to save some money because I needed to setup 2 theater rooms, living room and game room, and be able to upgrade my receivers. These had great reviews and still do. Due to unavailability during Corona, I went back to Boston Acoustics in my new house. They sounded OK, but looked cheap compared to my old Miccas that I had left in my old house since they were all wall and ceiling installed. Well when I played the opening scene of Master and Commander, they were sooo exposed. OK at lower volumes but shrill, raspy highs. Back they go and in comes the new Miccas and ahhhhh, that's what I was expecting. And the build quality is amazing. Just looking at the electronics on the back, magnets, crossovers, soldering, not even close. I could spend a crap ton of more money for some Klipsch speakers, and get a better sound but it would be very close. Check em out. I doubt you will be disappointed.

I just bought Micca's for my surrounds. Building my new entertainment center now and will have my full system set up in a couple of weeks. Can't wait! It's just in the den, though...not a dedicated room. Not the OP...just chiming in.

What did you buy? The RB42s? I have book shelves to put the front 2 speakers but will have to get fancy to mount the back 2 to the wall and even more so if I want side channels.

I grew up with Terminator 2 on DVD with 5.1 surround sound and it was amazing. Dunno if it holds up but I imagine it would.

I had Pulp Fiction playing on my first surround sound system. Jules and Vince are walking through the building to see Brad and Flock of Seagulls when a toilet flushes in one of the apartments. Holy shite. It sounded like it was in the next room. Almost too realistic.

Blade Runner - The Final Cut in 4K is phenomenal for sound. Especially if you have an Atmos system. 5 stars!

Google and/or go to AVSForum.com and search for best movies to show off.

Example

WOTW when the aliens emerge from the ground sounds good too if you have some good subs.
