I've had three Apple computers in my life, my Apple IIe, my Macbook Air, and I sold that to buy a Macbook Pro. I've only owned Windows desktops and Windows laptops before the Macbook. It's the best computer I've ever owned. Other than battery life, it's the same as the day I bought it.
My work laptop runs Windows 10 and that's really the game changer for previous Windows laptops

Just got a Macbook pro from work. IMO, it sucks massive balls compared to Windows 10. Lucky I didn't get an M1, those guys have it even worse trying to get dev environments up and they only support one monitor. Meanwhile I now have an MSI GS66 sitting idle that absolutely smokes this piece of shite. But policies and all, so what are ya gonna do.

I've used both. Apple makes a great product but the price difference isn't worth it imo

Rarely used any of the software on windows. Got a MacBook and will never go back. It's synced with my iPhone, very nice.

MacOS owns 15% of the PC market share. If macOS was better than Windows, more people would use it.

M1 MacBook here, love it. It’s all about personal preference to be honest. I have Windows computers as well and dread using them because I think MacOS is so much better. I find macs also tend to outlast Windows machines, Apple controls all the hardware for their machines vs Windows that can be thrown on a $200 Walmart laptop or $6k gaming machine.

At this point I'd never buy a Mac simply because I can't get text messages on it.
Seems crazy in 2021.

Well, your reason is no longer actually valid, believe it or not. Texts can be viewed on your desktop. I use it every day.
Disclaimer: I’m pretty OS neutral and enjoy playing with all of them.

Good to know. I was under the impression it only worked with iphones. That must be a new improvement.

Nah. I get all my texts pretty reliably.
I bought an m1 mini for fun. The feature worked well enough that I replaced my XPS with a dying battery with a new Air. The phone connect wasn’t bad, but it would hang up/require restart/not connect. It was probably user error. But the ability to see texts and calls on screen in patient rooms (I carry my laptop room to room) + battery as long as any has been nice.
I would probably have been close to as happy otherwise with a surface laptop.
ETA: clarification- if you have an iPhone, you can send text and iMessage from the iMessage app (not only iMessage to other Apple devices). I don’t believe there is any support, first or third party, for using an android phone to do anything particularly useful with OSX

Not at all in today's world.

If you have an iPhone strongly consider going all in on a Mac. The smooth integration is great.

No.
Yes.
It depends on your usage case.
Ask better questions.

One of these things is not like the other

Without going into a lot of detail, for video editing, a mac laptop will likely be better, and a pc desktop would likely be better. Just depends on how much horsepower you need.

The new M1 Chip Mac Air is smoking fast and is great for video editing.

Also depends if you prefer Adobe suite of editing applications or Apple's Apps

There’s a guy in my neighborhood that has a PC repair business. A while back I asked him the same question (Mac or Windows). His response was, “If everyone owned a Mac, I’d starve.”
