Switching back. Waiting for my Note 8 right now. It really is bullshite. My 7 plus was awesome but has now become glitchy and the battery life is abysmal

What honesty?! They didn't say shite about it until people discovered they were borking phones within the warranty period instead of fixing the prematurely failing batteries and people, understandably, started asking Apple some difficult questions.

This doesn't really bother me that much. If the OS didn't slow down, people would bitch their battery life sucked.
This just in - people are going to bitch.
Battery life on my androids sucked dick after 2-3 years. And the OS was bogged down and slower than iOS for me, always. Yes, I had everything uninstalled, androids OS is just not as good. It just isn't.

What they should have done ( if possible) was made this a user selectable feature.

Definitely agree there! They probably will do something like that since they've acknowledged it now.
That should definitely appease some but still, some will always bitch even if they were given a free phone and no bill, they'd want accessories too.

What determines when to slow down the processor of the phone? How much is the phone slowed down? The article doesn’t go into detail, and everyone says it’s within the warranty period. Are we talking about iPhones that are 3 years old? Are we talking huge changes in performance, or is any change something to have people click an article?
This is a data backed claim, and the article published zero data. Am I looking at a 30% decrease when the phone detects the battery performance is less than 80%? What exactly does it slow down? Do certain tasks override that code at the sacrifice of battery life? Is it only based on age, or does it actually test the battery performance?
The biggest/inherent issue is that Apple does not allow the user to change the battery. So they programmed into iOS some battery life compensation as the irreplaceable battery ages.

They should do:
NEW FEATURE in iPhone Xs (or whatever the next iteration is): Swappable and changeable batteries.
I love apple but they're comical for calling things that have existed for years "new features". I could see this happening and then they'd make a killing having people buy newer or bigger battery sizes.

depends. A lot of about pure android is actually a lot better than ios. But sure after 3 years i would expect boggy performance and battery deterioration.
This sounds like apple was doing it within 1 year. That's f'ed up.

I dont know about the newer phones that probably don't need the battery changed yet, but i just changed the battery on a 6.

I have an iPhone 6 that would take 2-4 seconds for the keyboard to become useable in iMessage. I thought it was just iMessage bloat until I posted a story about this issue a few weeks ago.
This really isn’t much different than Low Power Mode where you choose battery life over performance. Apple should have made it a feature and it would probably encourage upgrades and overpriced battery replacements.

Agree with all of that.
I have the iPhone 8 Plus. The battery last 2 days and I'm on my phone a lot. The phone is quick and smooth. The camera is fantastic. Is it because Apple is this magical amazing product? No. It is because it is only a 2 month old phone.
I had the Galaxy S6 before this. Same as above. When I first got it, it was fantastic. I loved the camera, thought the phone was fast, the batter was great. Over the past year, it was damned near unusable. Crashing constantly, needing to be charged after only a few hours, taking horrible pixelated photos. I even traded it in for a new one through my insurance and had the same issues. I was carrying around 2 portable chargers because the phone died on me on work trips when I needed maps. Is it because Android is a pile of shite? No. It's because the phone was too old.
People should just accept that technology advances too quickly to continue using 3+ year old devices without issues.

My LG G5 that came with two batteries is still going strong. On like the fifth screen and just swap the battery when it gets low. Still only use one battery a day.
