Android with best battery life
Posted by Dabdoub1 on 2/15/17 at 8:39 am00
I have a S7 Edge and everything I read keeps telling me it has the best battery life for an Android. With that being said, I can't get almost half a day out of it without it draining. Left office yesterday with full charge, used Google maps for 40min and streamed music for about 30min and phone was under 20% by 10pm.
Thinking about switching to Moto Z for battery life. Any thoughts?

why don't you turn off your GPS and Wifi, and whatever other stupid apps you have running in the background.
My OnePlus 3 lasts all day. Charges in about 30 minutes too.
When I come home and I'm about to go to the gym (Pandora/Google Music) I don't have to charge it but I do anyways because it takes such little time to do so.

20? at 10pm? Why do you really need it to do more than that? It still has battery. If it was at 40% at that time would it matter? You are still going to charge it when you go to bed.

Lose 80% in 5 hours? Yea that is a problem. I have to bring a battery pack to LSU games with me for it. How do I disable all the background apps?

streaming music and using gps will certainly drain a battery pretty fast. I dont think i ever use gps in the car without it plugged in.
I don't have it myself yet, but I've read a ton on the Moto Z Play and everything points to it currently having the best Android battery life.
The Huawei Mate 9 is right up there as well if you want an even bigger phone.

I stream music in my shed all the time for hours throughout the weekend and see very little battery life consumed.
GPS will drain your battery with the quickness, as well as using your phone as a hot spot.

true. it's not so much the music as it is the gps.

so many apps want you to turn that on, and most people are dumb enough to not read anything and just do it. Why you would want anyone knowing where you are is beyond my understanding. it's not difficult for me to enter in my zip code if you want to know where I live so you can match whatever it is you do in your app. You don't need to follow my every move.

Probably the only option for extremely heavy users is to go with phone models like LG still has that allow you to swap out the battery as often as needed. Having said that, I'm assuming you are using Google maps in your car so you should be charging your phone with a USB charger in your car.

Turned off the GPS and that has cut down on it considerably. Thanks for the feedback. Still considering a Moto just based off battery life if anyone has any experience.

did you have it on high accuracy or battery saving mode? Also I have horrible reception at work so my battery drains like shite just laying it on my desk. That might be an issue you're experiencing.

Wife has a Moto Z play, ridiculous battery life. Easily gets two days, plus with the quick charge it can charge 80% in 15 minutes.

Droid Turbo 2. Look it up. 50 hours of battery life while in normal use. Turbo charger too. Unbreakable screen and warrantied if you do happen to break it.
I am using a Droid Turbo and love it, can't wait to upgrade.

Thanks for the tips guys. I play games so my battery drains before the day is up.
