Android Vs iPhone in 2018

I know, not an original topic. But hear me out.
At first I believed Apple products were so popular because of ease of use along with style. However i do not feel that they are worth the exorbitant cost over Android.
I have always been on team Android. It not only has great customization, but it does everything else i want in a smartphone at a lower cost.
Most importantly, I dislike how Apple abuses the customer base. Taking away things like the 3.5 mm ear jack. Refusal to acknowledge obvious OS problems when they are reported. Planned battery obsolescence with no backup, forcing you to upgrade.
I don't hate Apple. I just feel that they don't offer a superior product. Androids can mostly do the same thing save for apps that are intentionally proprietary.

Well I am a Android fan too, but I have the Pixel 2 xl and it has no headphone jack, no upgradable storage and is pure Android. So it looks like Android is copying Apple.

There is the dreaded android lag after awhile

That and the fragmentation of varoius ROM’s/versions.
Used Android for awhile but IOS is just easier. Apple TV and using my IPad to change the channel is sweet.

Dude, you could have gotten one of the other 12,000,0000 Android phones that have all that, so the only person you can blame is yourself.

I don't need any of those things. I was just trying to make a point to the op.

iPhones hold up much better than a majority of droid phones.

I like that both Android with all it's companies exist and Apple with it's closed system exists.
We get better products from everyone that way. Android is far better off today thanks to Apple, Apple is far better off as well.

I hate Apple, but I HATEEEEE trying to use an android phone. I don't care what awesome features they have.. I much prefer the ease of use with the iphone.
It's not even close for me.. and it helps my entire family can work the iphone with ease as well.
I tried to navigate some androids recently and remembered why I had to settle on the iphone.
I just can't get use to it.

In general android is for techies who want to tinker, customize, and treat tech as a hobby. We are nerds at heart. IT field is full of android users.
iPhones are for the common consumer who just want a simple interface, smooth software experience. Apple doesn’t want you even see the “tech”. They just want you enjoy your experience using the device.
Obviously those generalizations won’t apply to everyone.
I currently own a Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X. Both are great in their own way. No need for a fanboy flame war.

Not necessarily true. It's about 50/50 at least in the places I've worked.
But like you, I use and like both.

I know this is highly subjective and everyone is different, but there comes a point for me where something is so "easy" that it's actually hard to get anything done. And, again for me, iPhone is very far into so easy it's hard territory. Granted, I don't have a lot of experience with it, but the times I've had to use one were just a pain.
I guess what some people see as "complexity" that should be hidden away, others see as useful features and prefer easy access to them.

Well no shite. You can walk in to Walmart and buy a $100 Android phone off the shelf.
You think that could compare with an iPhone?
Now start comparing top end Androids (Pixel, S9, etc) and you're plain wrong.

Well the problem is the high end Android phones are moving in the same direction. Yeah, there are tons of others ones, but the latest greatest is heading towards the same thing as Apple.

Seem to see more problems with those models than iPhones. And I see a lot more iPhones than droids. My plan was to get the new Pixel but my buddy that got one first had already had to have it fixed twice. I’m rocking an iPhone 6 that I’ve never had a problem with. I’m gonna switch to droid when I buy a new one but not sure which one to buy now.
I deal with tech nerds all day long who act like they are allergic to apple. Yet they are always having issue to fix with their phones. That is fine if you get off on that type of thing but some people just want their shite to work.

Typing this on an iPhone 6. No battery issues. No issues at all really. I am also still using a 2nd generation iPad. No issues with it.
A stick of gum is more expensive than any Apple product I have ever owned on a cost per use basis.

That's a tired, old excuse. Android used to take more maintenance, but it is a great OS these days; particularly on the Pixel line.
If your tech buddies root their phone and play with different ROMs and stuff that's on them. Im in IT and not really interested in all of that and I love Android. I'm on a Pixel atm, got it immediately when it launched, and have no issues.

FWIW people who refer to "Android" as "Droid" aren't the people you want to get your phone advice from as the two terms are not interchangeable.
Droid was Motorola's Android line that got it's name from those obnoxious DROOOOOIIIIIDDD commercials. Most people who say they don't like "Droid" actually mean they tried a motorola Android variant back in 2010-2012 and then switched to Apple.
They've researched so little since they switched that they think the "Droid" they tried 7 years ago has anything to do with Android today.
Android is Google's OS that is used openly across the ecosystem of manufacturers today. IE Samsung, LG, OnePlus, Motorola, ETC.
Again, I carry an iPhone X and a Google Pixel 2 XL. I'm not a fanboy of either. But I did work retail at Verizon from 2015-2017 and my above summary describes the average person who uses the word "Droid."

Not really the case with the group of people I deal with daily. Android is used in more than just phones. It’s the reason I want to switch over.
