Clatterberg just said that CONCACAF ref doesn’t understand the game.

We could have told him that. That ref is the worst.

Sweden is out to hurt the Japanese team.

They already subbed out one of their best players so he isn't injured before the R32. Japan advances with any result with 4 points.

They are just playing for seeding

Feels like Japan will score and then hold it down to win 1-0.

Once Japan scores there's not really much point in Sweden pushing to get 2 against a team like this that plays so clean.

Wait... is it true the Algeria/Austria winner draws Spain & loser draws either Iran or Egypt?

It'd be like the South Park episode where both teams want to lose so they don't have to play baseball anymore

I don't know why I'm down voted.

I'm just saying that the woke liberals in charge need to choose which oppressed group they are going to offend: the Muslims or the Homos

Absolutely nothing. It’s organized by Seattle and the festivities are all outside the stadium. I bet there will be a ton of gay flags flying during the game, which I find hilarious at a game with two Muslim countries in which being gay is illegal (or punished by death).

If Japan and Sweden both advance with a tie, what keeps them from a gentleman's agreement to do so?

Little, but a disgrace of Gijon style situation would look extremely bad and I’m sure they’d both prefer to avoid it.

It is one of the things FIFA messed up with the change in format.

Could there be an incident in the stands?

They’re the ones being pussies if they can’t handle gay people, you know, existing. They can frick off with that.

If there's a gentleman s agreement then it's the the worst one ever.

Sweden appears to not care about hurting Japan players.playing extremely aggressive

Kind of karmic that their own player is the one who got injured

while the winner will draw Spain in R32, if Algeria lose then they’ll likely be eliminated. They’d only have 3 pts and a poor GD.

Austria only have 3 pts as well. They’d get Spain if they won/drew but it’s too risky for them to play to lose and risk getting into the knockout phase on only 3 pts and a - GD. They’re both really wanting to play for a tie to guarantee knockout phase. Would be really dumb iirc for either to intentionally play for legit loss and their tournament destiny being completely out of their own hands after final whistle

I agree.

I just like the conundrum that the "Progressive" politicians are finding themselves in.

They're in the final slot of the final day of group play... they'll know what they need heading into the match

as of now it’s tbd though. May wind up they’ll know a 1 goal loss is good enough to get them into next round

..and in 3rd place allowing them to avoid Spain. That prob won’t be case for Algeria though. 3 pts and -3 GD is where Scotland is currently and it’s not looking good for them. Algeria loss would put them same on GD or worse

Does the Netherlands have every black dude in the country playing for them?

I'm watching Japan/Swe and they showed highlights of the Netherlands, and it just surprised me.

I only watch soccer when the world cups roll around. Sorry
