Ivory Coast are starting to a little frustrated on offense

The Caribbeans are swarming the ball on defense.

Curacao needs to start pulling the trigger on shots instead of playing for a cross

These Caribbeans are really fun to watch
Very fast paced

Still can’t believe that German goal wasn’t disallowed. Boot to head universally always a foul. Was it the VAR not even telling her to go to the monitor or the DEI ref?

That was egregious. Really unfortunate you have to question the integrity of the game on this big a stage.

People who will watch Germany > People who will watch Ecuador. And the only language FIFA speaks is money.
But France is going to go through Germany like Napoleon.

The ref didn't make a call, but the VAR is supposed to review and I believe they have the actual authority to make a call or they can have the ref review it themselves.

In this instance it seems that VAR didn't even request she review it. About the only argument I would entertain is that the Ecuadorian player "kind of" jumped into the boot. But my limited understanding of the high kick penalty is that contact with an opposing player isn't necessary. I get this isn't peewee soccer, but still.

Germany are already through as group winners, the result means nothing for them, so why would FIFA care that more people will tune in for Germany as opposed to Ecuador?

Not just today, but in general. People want to see the “name” teams.

they have VAR now which is different from the hand of God days. This was the biggest blown call I’ve seen at this tournament and very fishy that it was allowed to play on then even VAR to wave it off. There’s been favoritism for some of the big teams here but this one is inexcusable. Everyone except the ones responsible for making the call saw it. Disgusting

Holy shite!

An Ivory Coast player flopped and the ref didn't call a foul in his favor!

First time today.

If you are an African team and you are struggling vs a CONCACAF team, just fall down when they steal the ball from you and the ref will call a foul.

That's the only thing Ivory Coast can do against the Curacao defense right now.

Tori Penso is a better official than Chris.

There is allegedly a FIFA directive to the officials (and also covered in their pre-tournament camp in Miami) to allow play to to flow more and ignore “softer” fouls.

If you keep that in mind, many of the officiating decisions make sense.

Damn.

Ivory Coast just scored a second.

Of course it was set up by a free kick from a questionable foul

The refs missing the calls is whatever to me, that's why you have VAR.

But when VAR doesn't recommend the official to go check the monitor for blatantly obvious errors is when it get ridiculous. And so far all the bad errors have gone the way of the higher ranked teams.
