I think like 7 more things still have to happen

South Korea or Sweden/Japan have to qualify as 3rd place teams

If those 2 groups don't send a 3rd, the 1/320 scenario hits

Germany are not good. No real attacking talent. Holes in defense. Terrible midfield. France are going to crush them!

Group E is complete... and everything seemingly held to form.

Germany already won the group and Ecuador took advantage... getting a 2-1 win over Germany to better its bid for 1 of the 3rd place spot in the knockout round

Meanwhile... Ivory Coast's 2-0 win over Curacao secures Ivory Coast the #2 spot in the group while Curacao heads home

Final Group E Standings:
Germany 6 pts +6 GD
Ivory Coast 6 pts +2 GD
Ecuador 4 pts 0 GD
Curacao 1 pt -8 GD

Group F sure got screwed..

Win the group.. play Moracco
Finish 2nd.. play France
Finish 3rd.. play Brazil

I’m not sure Japan or Sweden really wants to win this game.. and I think the Swedes would like to tie.

A Sweden loss to Japan in this next window of matches would secure Ecuador 1 of the 3rd place spots in the KO round

Scotland is the most hopeless sports entity in my life, which includes Leeds United and the New Orleans bastard saints.

So does that knock Scotland out completely or is there a .1% of something to keep them in

Scotland is still currently alive and should be alive still at the end of today since Netherlands, Paraguay, Australia, & Sweden are already ahead of them in the race for a 3rd place spot

The Scots will be looking for help from Japan (a 3+ goal win over Sweden) or a dominant decision in the Paraguay/Australia match

An Australia win by 3+ or a Paraguay win by 4+ would greatly benefit Scotland

ETA: but tomorrow will be a tough day for the Scots with Belgium trying to secure a spot

As a lifelong Saints fan whose favorite player of all time is Dalton Hilliard (and the only kid in my middle school who had a Saints Starter Jacket instead of Cowboys, FSU or UM), I can say with all authority that the Saints can lose every game from now on and I will be completely satisfied as a fan.

I got to see them win a Superbowl. Everything they do after that doesn't matter. They already gave me what I wanted.

Well tonight’s my last night we’re taking some of the Scottish girls out to dinner in an hour or so. It’s been a lot of fun down here in Miami. They really are an incredible group, bagpipes and flip flops were hilarious. No problems at all between all the fans coexisting in the bars. Just great vibes and a lot of beer

I'm curious to see how Paraguay and Australia will approach tonight's game. If this were their first game, I think this game would have 0-0 written all over it. Possibly with a few red cards for fighting.

But with it being the last game, both teams would rather finish in second place than third place. Paraguay need a win to finish second, while Australia need only a draw.

Neither one of these teams wants much of the ball, normally. Which team blinks first and deviates from their normal haramball tendencies? Australia has more to lose taking a risk, but I think they have a little more attacking threat going forward than Paraguay. Maybe both teams will just stare at the ball at midfield for 90 minutes.

It’s pretty amazing that literally every match has gone against Scotland since last night.

We’re still penciled in to play Mexico.
