Since yall are having this discussion, I would say Haaland is progressing a lot like Kane did
Initially Kane was a positioning/box merchant with great nose for goal and good header
Kane developed a more complete game and shot as he got older
...enter Haaland who is pretty much doing the same thing, but is more physically and athletically dominant with his sprinting, pace, and acrobatic finishes

Another thing with Haaland and Kane - Haaland needs to stay at this level for at least 5 years before he's reached the consistency of Kane

Tuchel's defensive substitutions were absolutely brilliant tonight. England loses if Southgate's still the gaffer.

I thought they were terrible honestly. It all worked out but Mexico gets #3 and England was toast.
Mexico didn’t haven’t the offensive quality needed to win the game. If that’s what Tuchel was banking on, then he made the right choice. They bunkered for 20 minutes and he got saved by having two stamina freaks in Gordon and Jude.
ETA: So, I think it’s all hindsight 20/20…England won so victors get to write history. You play that game 10 times in those circumstances, I think Mexico is tying the game in at least 6 of those. M

Jordan Henderson confirmed as the player with the medical incident. Left on a stretcher and was administered oxygen as he left the field.

Roy Keane said he and his family were on a trip somewhere at that elevation and he and his son got altitude sickness but his wife didn't. Crazy how it affects some but not others.

Tuchel, you’re the one

Haaland has won the Golden Boot in the Premier League 3 out of the last 4 years. What are we even talking about here?

I'd never disparage Haaland. He's incredible. He is nowhere as complete as Kane. Kanes winner against the Congo is a prime example. Maybe 3-5 dudes can do that. Haaland isn't one of them.

Many props to him. Much more work ethic than Saka, Rashford and Madueke put together…AND can match the Mexican shithousery.

This is utter nonsense. Kane is better at dropping deep to facilitate the attack. Haaland is just as good, or better, at everything else.
There isn’t a thing Haaland can’t do when it comes to putting the ball into the net.

Today was the first time I’ve seen Haaland take an outside shot. Otherwise he’s built for long runs into the box or hanging around the six for headers, acrobatics or scraps. Kane is all that.
If Haaland develops and becomes a Kane-esque sharp shooter, then he’ll become more than Kane.

Kane is also elite as a target man/facilitator, false 9, etc. Haalaand is absolutely elite at a small handful of things. Kane is elite at those and also in several more ways
Again, 60 goals for Bayern last year and his heat map is completely different than Haalaands

Jordan Henderson was injured after the celebration tonight. Seems like a relatively major injury that will keep him out of the next game.
Posted on 7/5/26 at 11:11 pm to Bronco11
Haaland a 25yo pure finisher. Kane may be more of a complete player, but if I needed a goal I'd want to send the ball to Haaland
Posted on 7/5/26 at 11:11 pm to GeauxPanthers2
The injury only plays a small role in why he won't be playing next game
Posted on 7/5/26 at 11:13 pm to SlowFlowPro
Yeah I don’t believe he played tonight

True. But the same could be said of Haaland's brace today.
The great ones just make it look effortless.

Even the broadcast said haaland doesn't score outside a certain area. Kane can score at will, outside the box. Again, haaland is phenomenal. He does not have the depth of Kane.

Yup.
Halasnd may develop that side and would be great for him. Yes, he’s a scoring machine, but Kane has been one for a while. I’d take him over haaland if I need a late goal because his history is littered with needed goals
