Battle of the poors. Would be great to avoid both teams advancing to the knockout round as they won't spend as much money in those cities.

Fun time of the year.

Exciting game, I don’t know much about soccer but can someone explain to me why Japan didn’t try to take it down to score after getting final possession? It seemed to me there was plenty of time to create one more attack.

No reason to risk a takeaway and counter-attack against a better side.

That was a fun one. Don't sleep on the Japanese and South Koreans. They both have a lot of talent and never quit.

Sweated out the U 4.5 bet at the end.

That game was awesome. This World Cup could not have started out any better, all around. The Japanese stay being a class act. Fans staying behind to clean up Jerry’s World.

Did we not have a chance at Zion Suzuki? Dude was born in Little Rock.

Probably not, and we have a deep enough pool of keepers that he was never really a priority.

I know we have some young talent, but our keepers on the roster now are a bunch of MLS players. Would be nice to have the starting keeper for Parma on our roster.

Yeah we had a lot of talent flame out. Ochoa flipping to Mexico (and then doing jack shite, take that) and Turner flaming out in Europe didn’t help. Our pool is still pretty young. Jurgen’s kid is committed to America at least and he’s in Europe.

Plus this kid came up through the Japanese youth system all the way back to U16. Probably never had a real shot either way.

We have a bunch of mid quality keepers, which is a shame because high level keepers was one of our staples.

Poor JP Dellacamera. Dude was a pioneer in American soccer and all he's gotten for it is being the 5th string pbp at the various tournaments.

Big problem is a lot of them are young, and it’s not unusual for keepers to peak around 30 compared to field positions.

At least he’s not as annoying as Alexei.

And I still laugh at this every day. Guy thought he’d be primed to take over for Memo only for Mexico to not use him at all.

Might not be a bore fest. Two youngest teams in the tournament. It’s a showcase for many players.

Risk/Reward is minimal. A draw against the other good team to start is positive after being down twice.
