It's a shame this wasn't the late match. It would be a great cure for insomnia.

It's two teams that are going all out. If there isn't a straight red card, I'll almost be surprised.

Exciting game, I don’t know much about soccer but can someone explain to me why Japan didn’t try to take it down to score after getting final possession? It seemed to me there was plenty of time to create one more attack.

As others have said- unnecessary risk.

World Cup 2018… Japan is tied with powerhouse Belgium, 30 seconds from going to extra time, winner goes to quarter final.

Japan has a corner kick and sends all their bodies forward to try to get a winner. Belgium wins possession off the corner kick and counter attacks and scores the winner as time expires knocking Japan out of the tournament.

Every team in this tournament is going all out. That doesn't mean they're all equally entertaining brands of football. There has been 1 SoG in 35 minutes.

What did they say about the booing earlier? I missed it.

It’s not end to end but I don’t think it has been boring either.

It's been pretty end to end.

No they aren't. Japan sat back all first half. A draw is a great result against a team that hasn't lost in a 90 minute game in three straight World Cups.

This game could/should realistically be 2-2

Playing to the squads strength doesn't equate to going all out attacking. I'm not saying the players aren't trying 100%. But, the managers set the game plan. And it worked. I'm an Arsenal fan and understand that concept.

This game has been pretty good.

I just finished watching highlights of Japan vs Holland.

Japan's passing is some of the best in the game. The fact they tied Holland in spite of disadvantages in speed and height is commendable.

Holland seems to be kinda dirty, just like in their final against Spain a while back.

“Sitting back” != not going all out.

Hell defending is much more involved physically than offense because pursuing is far harder than dictating while in possession. Parking the bus is extremely exhausting.

I’ve only correctly picked 4 matches so far in a group of eight friends..

Mexico
USA
Scotland
Germany

I need an Ivory Coast/Ecuador draw, but too many crossbars being hit for that to happen.

Agreed. Depth of the squad is so important to play that way.

It's hilarious and maddening watching both of these teams lose their damn heads the second they get the ball in the box.

Game could just as easily be 3-3 as it is 0-0

The universal Hydration breaks decision make a lot more sense now that I realize they’re using it for ad revenue breaks. Bet that’ll become more commonplace just for that reason
