Man it's quiet in that stadium. Sounds like they're playing in a church.

Spanish national team is a weird one. Many parts of Spain actively despise the concept of a united Spain and want to be separate. When a Catalan or Basque side play in the Copa del Rey final, the anthem is routinely booed. They never have the numbers abroad for these events like you see with England, Scotland or the Netherlands.

Good teams playing but after last night there’s not much pop to this one so far

This. Last night spoiled us. This half was boring in that it felt like both teams are laying back and playing to not make the big mistake.

Spain looks as good on the ball as any team has looked so far.

I looked back at Spain's previous Cup games and found out that the only team they didn't score against was Cabo Verde.

Then I went and looked at the stats for that game. How the hell did Cabo keep a clean sheet? This has to be the most lopsided draw I've ever seen.

I don't know whether it's an impressive Cabo showing or a disappointing Spain showing.

What I do know is God was with Cabo that day.

World Cup 2026
FT Score
Spain 0 - 0 Cape Verde
Match stats
???? Spain ???? Cape Verde
23 Shots 6
8 Shots on target 1
74% Possession 26%
764 Passes 275
92% Pass accuracy 74%
10 Fouls 1
1 Yellow cards 1
0 Red cards 0
2 Offsides 3
11 Corners 1

Also: Vozinha is the only GK to record a clean sheet against Spain in this tournament.

You could see that with the fans and even with the players not singing along when the Spanish national anthem was played before the match. Portugal had much more national pride and were singing loudly..

.

I was hoping for a first half goal out of Portugal to get things ratcheted up.

Saw Spain play twice this WC in Atlanta, including when the destroyed Saudi. Both matches stadium was 90%+ Spain fans, but crowd seems more even today. Will say as opposed to other nations their fans definitely seemed more "wine and cheese" fans than rabid we are here to be loud, party and affect the game fans.

I'll take "Iconic Duos" for $800.

Nobody is surprised. We all saw it coming.

I wonder if the Mexico fans will be rooting as hard against the US as we did against them yesterday.

I would think the answer is a resounding "yes"

We need Portugal to win in extra time. No Nuno Mendes & Ronaldo on dead legs.

What an absolute flop by Joao Felix. He acts like he was shot and wasn't close to being touched. The Latin countries are the worst at that nonsense.
