Yeah Australia completely fricked up that shootout. CB taking first shot, subbing out the warmed up keeper who had been playing well, having a teenager take a shot. Just a well deserved loss.

Just don't get the coaching decisions there
Original keeper had been doing well and I think saved a penalty from Turkey in game one - way taller longer reach
Then sending out the center back on first kick and the teenager when a miss dooms you...
There is a strategy to penalties and they just failed at every step
Egypt on the other hand took the best set of penalties we've seen this WC so far

I legit think I could have done a better job than that keeper. He left so absurdly early every time. Put no pressure on the PK taker.

Sometimes in life you are the bug and sometimes you are the windshield. In PK, the Australian coach was absolutely the bug.

In a battle of teams trying to advance out of the 1st round in a World Cup knockout round... it took PKs but Egypt ends Australia's dreams, 1(4)-1(2)
Australia heads home
Egypt will face the winner of Argentina/Cape Verde in the Round of 16 on July 7 in Atlanta

Rebecca was not expecting that compliment from Zlatan

He’s either hitting it or wants to.

Henry and Zlatan cracking me up

Who is Zlatan. Been seeing him here and in commercials. Assuming he was a famous player back in the day. I actually remember the French guy Thierry from a past World Cup.

Nice to see Zlatan and Thierry encouraging that Aussie kid who missed the PK.
Really shitty that veteran players don’t step up. frick those dudes.

For the life of me, I can’t understand subbing the starting keeper, he was playing really well!

He kept them in it on several occasions. Dumb decisions all around by their coach.

Aussie coach made one of those "go for 2" decisions. If it works, you're a genius. If it doesn't, everyone hates you. Could've been the right move based on analytics or intangibles but no one cares if it loses you the game
