Colombians are weak bitches. Thank God Var has fixed a lot of this.

No matter what happens, you could consider this tournament a FLOP for Columbia

Colombia pushing for a second instead of just going to the corner.

Has Columbia been flagged for anything since the 60th minute?

Good for Colombia! Get the rapist Varsenal Partey out of there.

Plus more Colombian talent for future matches

Two mediocre teams without the heart of Cape Verde or Paraguay nor the skill of Spain and France

Whichever one of these teams advanced would be knocked out in R16

16 Round of 32 games

5 tied in FT (2 in ET, 3 on PK)
6 by 1 score in FT
3 by 2 scores in FT
2 by 3 scores in FT

that’s pretty good competition

All games won by 2 or more scores were by powerhouse teams

France
Spain
USA
Mexico
Switzerland

I thought the refs have done very well this tournament not feeding into the BS and antics. This is the first game where I thought the ref was very poor in controlling the flow of the game.

Man all you have to do is describe some dumb lsu game where there’s no line of scrimmage and all the WR get to start in the endzone. Every play is a Hail Mary. Probably more touchdowns and chaos but the game would be stupid. All they can say is yeah maybe but soccer is still gay and leave it at that
absolutely, I hear you and agree that would trash the game. However, most of the call-back goals I’ve seen in the tournament were in spirit of the game and called as a technicality, not as an abuse of the rule. That’s why I categorized it is as depressing.

Agreed.

The only game I had a problem with the officiating was the Germany-Paraguay match.

I didn't like how he allowed Germany to play so physical that it crossed over into thug tactics.

Other than that, I only have an issue with the implementation of VAR. It's used too inconsistent, and when it is used it results in a controversial outcome.

That's why I try to use targeting as a good comparison.

Usually there's no intent to subvert the rules, but it happens because someone is trying to do their job and make a play. In the process of doing that, they inadvertently break the rules, and get punished for simply trying to make a play.

And alot of times the infraction is completely subjective to what the official sees.

The offensive players timing their attack and the defensive players setting an offside trap are skills. They require practice to get right and even more skill to execute properly as a team.

An offensive player going early is no different than a WR jumping early or getting a running head start towards the line of scrimmage. Do you want to watch the XFL and Arena league or the NFL?

From here on out, I am going to assume that every body has a chance to beat anybody.

I don't expect that Paraguay beats France, but I also won't be as shocked as I would normally be in other World Cups.

This is the craziest World Cup I've ever seen.

You'd be insane to gamble on it.

I feel like Canada-Morocco is the bigger certainty. Paraguay at least consistently stifled attacks in qualifying. Morocco is miles better than Canada

But yeah, every other match is between relative equals, or the favorite has enough flaws that you can't argue they're locks
