Where does that match rank in the history of the World Cup?

I'm the furthest thing from an expert, which is why I'm asking. Also, how anybody ranks the best games or greatest games is all subjective.
But all I know is that shite was intense. Mexico had only lost twice in that stadium in 79 matches in 50 years. The announcers were acting like they'd never been in an stadium that instense before. The match also had 5 goals, which is a lot. And then England had 10 players for the last 40 minutes. Incredible!

I’ve got it 14th. Just don’t ask me which 13 I have ranked higher.

It was an instant classic for sure

I still can’t believe Mexico couldn’t score with England down a player.
No idea where it ranks overall but it’s one of the best games I’ve ever watched. It was intense from start to finish. I was hoping for an equalizer and extra time.

Mexico shite quality in the final third really showed. They kept over hitting crosses and England got much needed breaks with each one.

Right up there with East Germany knocking out West Germany.
You remember that one, of course?

Definitely one of the best World Cup games I’ve ever seen. However, it’s not at the level of the last final in Qatar.

You can’t be surprised that Mexico is just Crosses and Prayers.

I’d argue that Mexico prob deserved to win the match.
England had 5 shots, 4 on target, 3 goals.
Two goals within the span of 1.5 min.
Englands xg was 1.5, mexicos 1.94.
Pickford doing what Pickford does (up the toffees).

Mexico should have won. Pickford just had the game of his life.
And Mexico’s attack after the red card was frankly questionable.

Pickford had a good game and made some legit saves. Also, I felt like Mexico was getting help from the refs with some of those calls and still couldn’t do anything.

England played the game that was necessary to win. They had the talent to stick to their plan and capitalize when they could. Say what you will about elevation, smog, crowd, whatever but Mexico’s record in that place is incredible and it took a well executed game plan to win. England did those things and got the job done.
