And you paid for it in your cable package before. It's not like you were watching for free.
Right, but I wasn't paying extra for it. It came with all the other channels I already paid for. Now, I still have YouTubeTV, but I have to pay extra for Peacock. I understand it as a business, but I am just pointing out that the barriers of entry to fandom was much lower.

Ahh, I don't have cable. So, its lower for me. I just pay the yearly $79.99 price.
And the old way I would have to DVR games. DVR back then didn't hold much HD content. Especially trying to record PL matches and LSU games.
I can actually watch more games now. But completely understand not wanting to purchase cable and peacock, espn+ and paramount etc.

. For golf, the US is brash and out of control.
I was at a pub in Liverpool during the Ryder Cup.
I have golfed less than 10 times in my life, didn't care about the Ryder Cup, and the ENTIRE pub was screaming during the match. It was rowdy.
They were hassling me, and as a righteous dude, I gave it right back.
So, at least in my limited experience, the UK is brash and out of control for golf as well.

You can watch English Championship League and Scottish Premiership on Paramount +

It’s not the first time you’ve paid extra for cock

The answer is Leeds, always Leeds.

if you floated around communities in Reddit
That's your problem right there.
If you are a new fan I would avoid using reddit for discussions.
Don't worry about looking like a bandwagon fan. Pick a club you enjoy watching and have fun with it. Lots of supporter clubs across the USA, fun to watch a game with them if you get a chance.
For the record, I am a Manchester City fan, can't get more bandwagon than that.
Every fan from Europe I have talked to has been pretty appreciative of someone in the USA trying to follow football across the pond. I've found the fans to be pretty accepting.
Just stay off of reddit, those people are just miserable.

the only thing Im worried about is liking a team and they get relegated which is something Ive never had to worry about before
No bigger thrill than when your relegated team gets promoted back and then ends up being kinda good.

Then you're basically just safe picking one of the Big 5. Notice I left Spurs out... but in reality, they shouldn't ever get relegated so you can throw them in the mix. This last season was probably the closest it'll get in some time.
Everyone else is a risk to eventually get relegated, though Everton circled the proverbial bowl for some time and didn't go down.

I did not read all 3 pages of comments, so apologies if this was posted.
Find a local bar that has a fanbase and go to said bar and watch the games. By being with other "fans" you may become a fan of that team, maybe not.
When I lived in Chicago, I used to go up to the Globe Pub which is a soccer bar and would sit there late morning / early afternoon and just watch the games and the fanbase would rotate. Became a fan of QPR because their fans would come watch at the Globe and we had a blast.
