I really have no clue who will be our next coach.

I think it's going to be one of the biggest "names" we've ever hired.

2026 is our biggest chance to ever win a World Cup, doesn't mean that chance is all that big, but we're a top 12ish side with our deepest and most talented player pool ever. Got to go for broke, and the reports of Zidane and Mourinho tell us that they are.

I think it will be a big name as well.

I’m skeptical that it will be a highly coveted name though. So it could be someone like Jogi Low.

There is already another thread on it but looks like Jesse will be taking Southampton. One less candidate for the position. Brian Scharetter is saying that they may keep him even if they take the drop.

Not necessarily, considering Southampton may break it off with Jesse if they get relegated.

Apparently Peter Vermes declined an interview and signed an extension with KC instead.

Are we getting desperate again or was this a courtesy to him?

A courtesy? Why the hell would they be doing "courtesy" interviews for the national team? We are fricked, if that's true.

I don't want him but it doesn't hurt to get his ideas.

Don't know if I like that.

Earnie at least had sporting director experience at AZ before he came into the USMNT. This would just feel like another McBride hire.

Apparently he's had some limited experience in Belgium I think.

But overall yeah not much. And hell we still don't even know what that role entails for US Soccer.

Another thought I just had on this, we're going after a big name coach right? Well what coach worth that title would not want full control over the program?

Could anyone see Jose listening to 2 bosses who are probably way less qualified than he is telling him what tactics, personnel, training sessions, etc to go with? It'll be an absolute disaster unless they flip the current search and start with the coach and build up (if even needed) from there.

Sources have told ESPN that Henry is keen on the vacant U.S. men's national team head coach position. The USMNT has been without a permanent coach since Gregg Berhalter's contract expired at the end of 2022. U.S. Soccer said this week that Berhalter remained a candidate to return to the position following an investigation into allegations of domestic violence against him. Henry, who both played and coached in Major League Soccer, suggested last month that he was open to leading the U.S., which will co-host the 20226 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico. "Do I know the players? Yeah, I do know the players. Do I know the league? Yeah, I do know the league," Henry, who coached CF Montreal during the 2020 season, told CBS. "Would I want to be a manager at any level? Yes, of course. That is one of the things that I would like to do."

Yeah, he hasn’t been a good coach. Would be a bad hire imo.
