Former Southampton Director of Football Ops.

If anyone still wants to bet on Gregg's future with the USMNT, I'm happy to take your money.

Glad Gregg was mentioned. Would have been confused if he wasn’t brought up.

Should have gone with

Well the odds of Ralf Hassenhutl becoming the next USMNT coach just soared.

Don’t want him managing the national team

He’s not flexible enough with his tactics

Given you a hard time(in fun). On how Gregg is somehow mentioned in so many post of yours. Hope I don’t come across as mean. I like it when soccer board gets entertaining.

They looked at him briefly but I don’t think Marsch is that tied to Southampton

I’ll admit I do not follow soccer as much as people on here. Is this a decent hire.
Team in last place this year (longest losing streak in EPL 6. Tied with Leicester City)

15th last year(biggest away win in EPL 0-6 loss to Chelsea that year)
15th year before that(highest scoring game in EPL 0-9 loss to ManU that year)

Some nice records.

Southampton's collapse this season is entirely a function of disastrous new ownership that took over in 2022 (he was hired in his current role in 2020). They completely neutered his decision-making and responsibilities to the point that he was completely kept out of all transfer decisions last summer. Saints fans want the current ownership group executed and are not rejoicing at Crocker's departure on social media for a reason. He is entirely absolved.

(FWIW 15th is not a terrible season for Southampton either and that's right where they rank on wages. They have refused to go down for 11 years which is a tremendous accomplishment for a club of its stature)

He has an excellent player development pedigree from his two Southampton stints and time at the England FA. He played a big hand in making Southampton one of the best in Europe at talent development - it's an absurd list of names. He'll ultimately be judged on the quality of his hires but pleasantly surprised at the Federation for actually dropping the nepotism nonsense in favor of a qualified candidate

So, this hire should help with getting a good hire at manager, right?

Southampton had one of best youth academies in England, top 10 in world.

They were producing talent for themselves and other big clubs

I'll take it. Get those Jersey drama queens as far from the USMNT as possible.
