Okay did everyone see our guy jump over the slide tackle in the box there? If he’d have just taken the hit and gone down and rolled around, probably a yellow for Belgium and no goal for Belgium. There is a reason these teams go down when they do. Yea yea playing through the foul is super alpha but it’s 5-1. Take a fricking hint from these teams how they do it

We really need Richards and Adams healthy. And Dest too.

Arfsten should never see the field again.

We Slid midfield help to Doku all match, and he still had his way because the help either came in too far toward the 18 yd line or too flat and nobody covered the top of the box.

Weah didn’t as well as could be expected, but his help failed him repeatedly.

Pulisic was squeezed all game. No room for him, and no help inside to bail us because we were in a double pivot.

McKennie gets sloppy imo when we are in “dire straits”. When he does that, the rest of the team echoes. Just deflates. Simple observation, nothing more.

Berhalter came on playing hero ball instead of being self-contained. Scaly looked like a newborn when he came on. Agyemang had good and bad, but mostly bad. Both he and Pepi worked hard, though the Game was over when they came on.

Clearly missed Adams, Dest would have been a huge help too.

Balogun wasn’t getting good service. When he did have service, he tried with combination play but nothing seemed to come of it.

Give me Weston box-to-box, Gio in the 10 under Balogun, and Adams as the midfield in the group stage based on what I saw today and in the last two camps.

If we are playing a team with a pulse, I want to see Some frick (Miles or McKenzie), Richards, and Freeman as the back three. Ream is aging out (finally) at the wrong time.

I don’t think Roldan was that bad, he just wasn’t that good either.

All of that and my previous post just to get to this:

Turner is NOT it. I’d rather us just abandon him in the next camp and call in someone young af and promising like Gaga Slonina or Diego Kochen if Turner is gonna be that bad.

Against Portugal, I want to see Balogun up top, Pulisic - Gio - McKennie - Weah under him, Cardoso as the 6, then Jedi - McKenzie - Robinson, Freeman at the back with Jedi obviously bombing up and down the left.

IDGAFlyingF who is between the sticks next as long as it isn’t Turner.

He was getting deep balls played to him, but seemed to be at poor angles and weights. The only couple that were decent he was simply not fast enough to get to it.

When it was played to his feet, he held it up and tried to play combos. We just sucked after the goal.

I thought Turner was poor on 2nd and 4th goal, i missed the 5th

But damn he must have punched 4 balls right back into the middle of the box. One hit a belgian who wasnt expecting it or it would have been an immediate volley for a goal

We absolutely do NOT. That defensive performance was as embarrassing as I have seen in a long time.

After today I hope Pochettino gets the wake up call that this squad cannot roll the ball out and play the top 10 teams in the world “straight up.”

Belgium played around with us pretty much the whole game. They let us have the ball thinking we were doing something good and they were just letting us open ourselves up and expose our horrible back line and poor Timothy Weah over and over and over again.

The sooner we suck it up and learn to keep it tight and disciplined and “boring” against this quality of team the better. I know people don’t like it, but a defend and counter 1-0, 2-1 game is our hope against Belgium and the dozen teams better than them this summer. Otherwise we are going to get embarrassed when we meet one of them in the WC trying to play a wide open game.

That strategy was how prior US teams with inferior talent played above the sum of their parts against better teams

I haven't wavered from the "Poch is a disaster" camp.

He's still living on his laurels from like a decade ago at Tottenham and really hasn't done shite in soccer in a LONG time.

Failed at PSG
Failed at Chelsea

The word on him a long time ago was he was set in his ways that were once progressive and never adapted. It feels like he's experimenting with tactics he's not really familiar or comfortable enough and trying this with a national team (which is insanity).

He has more pride than smarts.

Any thoughts on what the score is going to be against Portugal since they are pissed they couldn’t score on Mexico?
