One thing that people don't talk about at all regarding the USMNT is how the starting 11 almost always consistent of players from a bunch of different teams. For example, the starting 11 against Curacao consisted of 11 players from 11 different teams. It's difficult to have a team play in sync when you have a lineup with players from a bunch of different teams who only play together a handful of times a year. Meanwhile, the Spanish national team is basically the Real Madrid and Barcelona all-star team. The German national team is usually made up primarily of Bayern Munich players. The Italian national team when they were successful usually had a lineup filled with Juve and AC Milan players.
If we put all of the USMNT players in MLS on one team, I think that would help the performance of the USMNT tremendously. You would have a chunk of the team that would have spent a lot of time playing together, knowing each other's game, and building team chemistry. I think that would be the best way to improve the USMNT than just sending off a bunch of players over to Europe.
