Another thing that sucks about November world cup - I'm trying to watch highlights on the TV since I couldn't watch live today.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Monday night countdown, college basketball, Around the Horn, etc

What a disaster. Needs to be in the summer as sole focal event

ESPN is also only showing the bare minimum since the WC is a FOX production now in the US.

I'm on vacation and have minimal and infrequent access to those things for video purposes. It's a lot easier to just turn on one of the 5-6 sports channels with highlights

You don't have to be a dick about it

in which case it would be 105 at noon and up to 120 in the late afternoon.

the location was the first mistake.

my 2 cents. every honest regular on this board knew bale is the real deal.
the penalty was stupid.
he was facing away.
he might turn and fire.
he might pass.
but it makes no sense to crash into him.
what made that a right move is anyone's guess. I don't see how it was going to work out.
aside from snatching a tie from the jaws of victory the USA team are the worst passers imaginable.
I was surprised.
I happened to see Germany weather a storm from England 4 3 just a couple weeks ago in their tuneup.
both those teams pass so much better than USA its stunning.
England, coming right up.

And I’m pretty sure you are in record with how bad you think deschampps is.

That's a stylistic difference, because I think the team can be more expansive in their play more often, not because I think that system is bad. I thought the low-block that Portugal played in 2016 was superb, as the team was set-up around Ronaldo's ability to counter-attack.

We either aren’t good enough or aren’t coached well enough. Because teams do do it.

To be clear, I think we have the technical and athletic ability to be an insanely good low-block team. But I definitely think we aren't well-coached enough.

So you admit the point did fly over your head then, because clearly you missed the sarcasm. Thanks!

What’s the point then?

I said Ronaldo doesn’t suck, you say you didn’t say that, your post clearly says that.

Regardless of what your were trying to say, you sarcastically said, Ronaldo must suck then. I said no, you said you didn’t say that, I say you did.

You did say that and you can’t fricking gaslight me.

This team isn’t very good. Individual talent at some positions is there.

But you have to win these games to advance. Period. There is nothing crazy about that.

Well I could have said this four years ago. I was always against the hire, but we made it. And when the whistle blows it’s up to the players, the coach can’t really do anything except make subs, or talk to the team at half to switch it up.

Let’s look at Arsenal, I was ready for Arteta to leave and never come back, but this season what has it been? THE PLAYERS.

Berhalter didn’t go through the back of a player in the box.

I mean, he needs get through the door at Benfica first. It’s not only the US that doesn’t rate him anymore. Seems to be the case for all of Europe

I was too, but I don't think Berhalter is proactive enough to in general. I find the team lacks a cohesive style, which helps the players play, and is the responsibility of the coach.

But the system was already in place. Once the right striker came in that allowed the team to compress the space in the opposing half, the team flourished. In the international game though, the players you have at your disposal are the players you have. I just don't have belief in Berhalter to get the most out of this group, but I still have hope.

Q&A like that are why I absolutely hate GGG. Smug, zero accountability, refuse to acknowledge the obvious and fail to answer the question. “We played hard.” No fricking shite. We always play hard—we’re the USA! How about just once we play smart?

Well I guess I just assumed we were stuck with Greg, so it was up to our supposedly most talented team to go and perform. They didn’t.

And this is also coming from Arsenal. We still have the youngest team, but we played a full season already with the youngest team. Saka had 100 games under his belt. Young, but not inexperienced.

This team doesn’t have the luxury to go through multiple 38 game seasons. So yeah, I still think they aren’t good enough. Nothing wrong with that.

The, they aren’t very good also comes from being a very young team. I think they said on Fox only one player on this team played in a WC before. I didn’t feel like looking it up but I figured Yedlin was that player if true and he’s not a starter.

Individual talent and being good as a team is two separate things. And this team just isn’t good enough.

this fricking sucks. I want to throw a tantrum because Gregg is a moron but the way these things work is almost academic at this point, and when we inevitably sneak through we’ll just gloss over the issues per usual

on the bright side, short of getting to the quarterfinals this should be the nail in his coffin

I'm not convinced Iran can't take points from both Wales and us.

Exactly. This team might be the most individually talented team we've ever had. We desperately need to find the right coach for the next moment though.

Just finished the game. Was somehow able to avoid having it spoiled for me all day. GGG is a fraud, and this team is poor under him. They create absolutely nothing. For all the focus on our lack of a #1 striker, it’s more the fact that they have absolutely zero service, and haven’t the entire time under greggggg. I hate Berhalter so much.

None of this is a surprise, and all of the same criticisms we’ve had for pretty much the entire Berhalter tenure. What really scares me though is a comment I caught from an episode of futbol americas earlier in the week from Hercules Gomez and his co-host Sebastian Salazar. They both claimed to have had off the record conversations with people in the know that there’s a path forward for Berhalter to remain the coach even if they fail to advance out of the group stage. I can’t stomach more Berhalter ball, and if that sort of failure can be stomached from McBride & Stewart they need to fricking go too.

Also, Reyna should’ve played just so we don’t have to look at another Pulisic corner again.

I wouldn’t go that far. I’d actually guess the likelihood of us beating England is higher than Iran getting more than 1 point out of the group
