Damnit this next leg has me super nervous.

It shouldn't after how we locked City down but damn I wish it was a clean sheet or only 1 goal.

The draw with WBA kind of puts us with a tough decision. We need a win in the league and don’t want to have to do it on the last day of the season. Can’t mail it in on Stoke at home. I don’t think we can rest more than one of the front 3.

TAA learn quickly young man. You are now a jack of all trades cause we need midfielders.

Is Can done for sure? Lalana?

Could have been more than that even. Mane had 3 missed chances and we had one off the cross bar.

So envious of that experience!!

I managed to watch (on my phone) right up to the 3rd Mane goal... then tracked on my phone.. People in my meeting mustve wondered why I was grinning hysterically through out

Then a quick refresh and their two popped up..

Watched the replay when I got home.. for their goals, just a typical lapse from Lovren and an unfortunate pen.. frustrating..

It's still a three goal lead and they'll have to open up if they want to get three in Rome.. I'm fairly confident we'll score and go through to Kiev..

On a more somber note... so bummed for Ox.. hopefully, its not too bad, but not expecting him back this season...

And I don't know whats wrong with some people... assaulting a man and leaving him fighting for his life... 2 Roma fans arrested for attempted murder...

Actually I'm crossing my fingers that this is what it is.

Because I don't want to ponder the alternative.

the worst case, as with any knee hyperextension, is a PCL and possible MCL tear...
that would shelve him for a while

Wow. That was a really impressive match from Liverpool.

Salah was unplayable on the wing the way I'm used to only seeing from vintage Ronaldo. Firmino and James Milner were excellent as well.

Yeah, I am too, but I would have killed for 5-0 going to Rome just to keep the nerves away ... All we need to do is keep it clean next week and we're off to the final

Also, just confirmed by Melissa Reddy, he has ligament damage, he's done for the season AND out for the WC, just hoping we see him back by the start of next season at this point

Arsenal fan just popping in to say what a bummer about the Ox. Have really enjoyed watching him flourish at Liverpool and was really excited for him to play a key role at the WC this summer.

Still only 24 and was really starting to unlock his potential under Klopp.

Have they said what ligament? It looked like it could have been pcl/lcl, which is what I had last year. Tough to come back from.

https://www.vice.com/en_uk/article/zmg9k8/i-saw-roma-ultras-attack-liverpool-fans-last-night

quote:

Suddenly they were there. The Albert pub is a Liverpool football club landmark. It sits on the boundary of Anfield, in front of the Kop. It's a place to gather before games, to sing songs, meet friends and try to fight your way to the bar. Last night, at about ten minutes past seven, 35 minutes before the Champions League semi-final between Liverpool and AS Roma kicked off, I was among a small group of fans milling around in front of the Albert.

We were outside the Albert and then, out of nowhere, so were 50 or so Roma fans. Ultras – the hardcore – in balaclavas and face scarves, swinging belts and bats and ropes, singing a song about Liverpool, hissing it at us as they appeared in front of us. Ratty guys in in pre-distressed jeans and big white trainers. One of them was carrying a hammer. One of them had what looked like a hangman's noose in his hand.

It was a routine face-off, and then it wasn't. There was a flurry, a blur of activity, a belt was swung and then there he was, a middle-aged man laid out on the floor, a few yards from me, unconscious. A minute or so before I'd noticed him, noted that he was about the nearest one of us to the ultras. From where I was standing, he could not have looked more harmless. A middle-aged man minding his own business in front of the pub. A fan standing outside the ground before the game, taking it all in. And then he was on the ground.

quote:

After the game – the incredible game, a game that had us on the Kop looking at each other in amazement – I walked back to where I was staying, next to Toxteth cemetery. A-roads and Victorian buildings, seagulls and the moon coming out from behind the clouds, fans singing Allez allez allez. I got back to my room and found out about Sean Cox, found out he was in a critical condition.

This morning, BBC Radio Four reported on fights "between" Roma and Liverpool fans. That's not what it looked like to me. What it looked like was an ambush on fans who didn't want to fight by fans who did want to fight. AS Roma have condemned the actions of a "minority" of their fans, though this is by no means the first time this has happened.

Speaking of Oxlade Chamberlain and Sean Cox, since moving to our club this young man has shown on the pitch the ability to be at the cusp to unlock an outrageous amount of natural ability. What has been more impressive is that this kid just oozes class and character off the pitch every time a situation arises. This lad just suffered a demoralizing injury that will exclude him from the CL Semi Final Second leg, hopefully a final and had his WC dreams crushed. So in the middle of all of those emotions at 25 years old he has the wherewithal to understand what was really important. I cannot tell you how blessed we are to have this kid in Red......and yes I love the SOB but he continues to prove me right over and over again.

Twitter saying Ox's injury isn't as bad as originally feared and that he may be ready for pre-season...?? Would think that would place him in line to possibly join up with England in Russia?

Really good article on Milner.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/apr/25/james-milner-liverpool-in-vogue-barney-ronay

quote:

Perhaps the most intriguing part of the current Milner Supremacy is that there are no obvious changes to his game. This is not an act of alchemy, the dramatic discovery of some hidden superpower by Professor Klopp, wheeling himself in through the conservatory doors, cranium throbbing. At Anfield Milner was simply himself once again, a footballer without a turn of pace, with no eye-catching technical skills, or obvious extreme qualities beyond the vital ones of intelligence, stamina and versatility.

As Liverpool wrestled with Roma’s power and craft in the opening 20 minutes Milner was diligent and compact. As Liverpool surged into that annihilating Red Zone midway through the half Milner was diligent and compact. As Roma scored two late goals Milner was still diligent and compact, not to mention a little unlucky to concede a late penalty.

He remains Milner the mule, an endearingly dogged, biddable figure, approaching each box-to-box shift like a plucky Soviet tractor steadily ploughing its way to the horizon and back again. Alongside the more deep-lying version of Henderson he provides a vital element of stillness at the heart of this attacking whirl of a team. Milner knows where to stand, where to cover, is free of the kind of creative ego that might lead him galloping into the wrong part of the pitch.
