"The day this is football, I'm not in a job anymore." - Jurgen Klopp

Two years ago, when Manchester United spent £89.3 million to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford from Juventus, the disdain radiating from Anfield was palpable. "The day this is football, I'm not in a job anymore," manager Jurgen Klopp said. "I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money."
Fast forward to the summer of 2018 and Liverpool are spending that kind of money. Having already lavished £75m on centre-back Virgil van Dijk, £54m on midfielder Naby Keita and £45m on Fabinho, the club have now agreed to pay Roma a world record £66.8m fee for a goalkeeper: Alisson Becker.

The 25-year-old (Pogba) is a matchwinner and, when his price is set against what Liverpool paid for a centre-back and are willing to spend on a goalkeeper, Pogba might eventually be considered a bargain.

Thank God he changed his mind.

Losing the champions league final due to keeper error(s) will do that to you.

I don't think anyone foresaw the quick jump in prices. But it is what it is. Records are breaking all over the place.
The article explains it pretty clearly - and if you think Managers use press conferences to purely just straight talk, I can't help you.
Hell Jose is the genius of using the press. Even when he trolls and infuriates me, part of me can only smile at him.

Absolutely. We were still in the general range of transfers from 1998 to 2003 until a couple years ago.

It's not City, so it's cool. Nothing to see here.

Here are the bingo cards points for easy reference -
- City spend a bit
quote:
frickin whore of a club. You're only winning because of money.
- Prove that their club's expenditure is similar
quote:.
Yeah well, at least we earned it. Not like you oily arabs. Plastic fans
- Prove that the club actually earns enough to spend that much
quote:.
You were nothing 10 years ago. You have no history and you'll never be a proper club
- Prove that City have a very rich history
quote:.
Well you probably started supporting last month and therefore endorse slavery
- Prove that you've been supporting City for years
quote:.
Scum like you are literally responsible for the deaths of children, rampant slavery, human trafficking, drug trade and frogs turning gay
- Puts on a pair of Nike shoes, takes a bite out of a Nestle chocolate and drives to work in a Volkswagen

How dare Klopp spend the money the club made by selling Coutinho!!!

Not the point, man. Klopp complained about other teams paying high fees and then Klopp paid high fees. Including nearly double what any keeper has sold for, ever.

It is hilarious how most of the Pool baws on here think anyone cares that they are spending money

No kidding, spend it all. That's what we have it for.
Just don't pretend like you are a victim of the game when you are the ones setting the curve.

The arrogance and delusion of Pool fans has always been pretty comical to me

The wife of new keeper Becker has OT 9 body and OT 4 face.
I saw that horrible play by the former keeper.
Reminds me of Mitch Richmond, Olympian and golden st warrior. Gsw moved him after he stepped back over the sideline before draining the "winning" shot, twice in one series.

Im jealous of City and Pool's spending. I'd love for Emery to complain about state of soccer spending if it meant in 2 years Arsenal could spend the way yall do and he'd look like a hypocrit.

Hasn’t he already spent close to £70-£75 million and it’s still July
Arsenal spent pretty big in Wenger’s last year
