Wow. That's pretty huge. I didn't even think the MLS would even be able to afford Messi.

Since turning 30 at the start of the 2017/18 season, Lionel Messi has been directly involved in more league goals than any other player in Europe's top five divisions.

196 games
147 goals
85 assists

Averaging a goal or assist once every 71.6 minutes.

Think he’ll do a couple years there, then at least one more year at barca before 1-2 final years at Newell’s

Like most good stories, the prophecy had a twist and he actually saved MLS 16 years later by signing Messi.

Those financials are hilarious, but he's gonna sell out stadiums in every city. Places like Houston or NE which have wretched attendance gonna be checking the calendar to see if Miami is coming to town.

Messi: “I wanted to make my own decision, thinking about myself, about my family. Although I heard that it was said that LaLiga had accepted everything and that everything was fine for me to return, there were still many other things that had to be done. I heard that they had to sell players or lower the salary of players and the truth is that I didn't want to go through that”

No way they are going to be in compliance with the salary cap. Didn't they lose out on a DP because of prior cap violations? I'm assuming MLS will turn a blind eye though.

Florida is still purple so frick em.

Messi simps or people who want MLS to thrive?

This will end up in three categories

The MLS die hards who will find a reason to hate on Messi as some form of being different

The Messi fans who give two shits about MLS who will only go to matches to see him. But once he’s gone will never bother with MLS. But bc of them will price out normal fans to matches which are already stupid expensive

And then everyone else who will just enjoy watching him scorch MLS defenders and then lash out at his teammates when they play shite balls.
